Date of Gensokyo's Season?

I have read the Touhou Project's timeline in wikipedia.

1. "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter" What's up with this and what affect the Gensokyo during this season?

2. Their Season's months list was based on Japan or Western country?

3. So going to use these Season's months from Japa was okay?

4. In technical stuff does Season's months has exact day (starting to and end to, something like that) or is it just Month only?

(cuz using season wasn't my customary and I'm not knowledgeable about Touhou)
