What you're seeing in the scans is the remaining Emperor Pressure after 10,000 years which is weakened to the point where Cultivators can resist it. Here we are told Emperor Pressure in the Emperor Garden cannot be resisted against by anyone, which is after Cultivators could resist the weakened Emperor Pressure of Fallen Emperor Mountain.
Then again, Cultivators were only able to withstand the Emperor Pressure outside Emperor Garden for mere moments before it gets strong enough before they use the protective jade. Yang Yan as she returns to her original strength Emperor Pressure is strong enough to block off Yang Kai's divine sense and partially harm his mind, which he even states is not the full strength of her power.
A couple hundred chapters later in the Star Boundary, Bing Yun left a strike of her sword thousands of years ago which has remained to the present day. Yang Kai uses Divine Sense which instantly attacks his Divine Sense, and states he would've suffered some damage if he didn't redact it.
The Emperor Pressure that leaks from an Emperor Realm is passively released without even deliberately wanting to and could still affect the Knowledge Sea.
Most of the Emperor Pressure we see is just remnants of it and not people actively attempting to destroy souls. If we go by SBA, their Aura will be at full power so, it's just instant Mind and Soul crush. Which is why Emperor Realm and above matches can't be made because its just stomp matches because of Emperor Pressure.
