Chainsaw Man discussion thread

Darkness is not really the unknown devil but okay
Do not forget that fearing mental imagery related to a concept also counts. For example a person may not fear a car by itself but fearing being run over and dying by a car would still count and would empower the Car Devil. When you are in darkness what makes you afraid is that you do not know your surroundings. You are afraid of what could be around you, the unknown. That is mental imagery and it contributes to the fear of Darkness.

Darkness is not really the unknown devil but okay
Yeah it is what? We fear the darkness because we do not know what lies beyond it. This is like a staple of life and fictional depictions of cosmic horror. Why do you think Darkness Devil pulls up with spacemen?

There might also be some kind of symbolism with how humans will eventually turn into trees after bexoming immortal and living too long.
Fujimoto DEF had something planned to delve more into Pochita/Chainsaws origins and the other afterlifes during the Aging Arc

He had Barem imply chainsaws has more metaphysical uses prior to certain concepts being erased and introduced the whole immortal tree thing which may have possibly been one of the 4 afterlifes ( if you believe it's techncially a form of "death" of your prior self before being enlightened )

Too bad we will NEVER know unless he just posts his drafts or gives a guidebook or something like how Oda revealed important lore in SBS like Zoro backstory or Frank and Queen being father/son cause he didn't care to add to the manga 😭

To be frank I could not directly tell you. But I will say that the Devil with the moon shaped head was most likely not an insect. If you look at his design his head is shaped like a crescent moon, and his torso and upper thigh remind me a lot of a spaceship or parts of one. That also makes me think his multiple limbs could represent something like a flag.

I get the impression from the visuals that this Devil may be tied to the moon and could represent some kind of connection to the insect apocalypse. I am not completely sure, but it seems most likely that it is based around space, the moon and astronomy like rockets.

I do not have a strong explanation for why though. The other Devils do look more insect like, for example the centipede and the one on the far left, though I cannot say exactly what it is. For the most part it's just important to note that they are narratively tied to the insect apocalypse.
As confused as you on why it would be the moon devil, his full body panel, from the angle, does indeed makes his head looks like a crescent moon

Yoru mentioned before the moon devil, saying it wasn't very primal (when trying to find out who's falling devil), can't see why death being erased would empower it to such point of being implied to be at primal devil level alongside the other insect devils, I have looked at insects with "crescent moon head shapes" and beetles are the closest to that, but barely the head looks vaguely like a beetles head

That devil has 6 to 8 arms, similar to most insects having many limbs, from the panel they are hitting denji, it's legs flexes very far, like it deataches, so it's seems to look like and works like a robotic body build

We really had one of the best villains in Shonen with Makima and mfs want me to place "Yoru" up there with the greats as well

"dragged fights" and its just her final fight with the one person she's wanted to fight since start of pt2.

So what's the planned final tiers for the verse?

I'm guessing 6-C or 6-B depending on the Michigan feat and massive upscaling from a far weaker Yoru having a legit 7-A feat

At least until further notice of the anime upscale

I mean the anime ended up boosting Reze from like 8-A to to 7-C at her strongest

I have no doubt the anime will give some upscale to at least Darkness Devil ( no way they won't end him giving him even more aura than in the manga ) thus upscaling God Tiers further

In volume 19 omake she shows to nobana pics of she ******** (her "massive dumps")

So her digestive system still works properly, somehow

(She not having the hole in her torso here may be her appearance being "reconned" later, or the omake art of her seen belly not being canon or she disposed of all her organs later on in the story)

Ngl
I think she just found random pictures from the internet made by people with shlt fetishes and passed them off as if they were her's (silly sentence I know).

She was almost better than Makima but then Fujimoto ended the manga before she got a proper resolution to her arc.

Truly fascinating that there may be people who take a silly image like this seriously.

"Bland" and it's one of the biggest personalities Fujimoyo has ever written. "Dragged" and it's a 14-chapter (each ~14 pages) fight with 3+ dynamic shifts. "Fraudulent" and she defeated title character three times. "Asspulls" ?????

It also relies on just taking the descriptions of other antagonists at face-value. I can't think of a single asspull from Sukuna from memory. But as I said, slander by definition is untrue.

Makima was on the ultimate evil wiki...until she had to much sympathy for her to be in there, and then Yoru came in, devised a plan that was far more dangerous in scale than Makima, and she became the ultimate evil

Sukuna uses a bv to amp his wcs and win because Gojo was off guard, something we only find out later outside the manga through a question asked for Gege.
Sukuna being interested in Megumi (TS) is only to make the Gojo vs Sukuna fight realistic, it serves no other purpose. Doesn't matter if its foreshadowed either, it still becomes contrived when we see what it led to.
Sukuna being able to make Megumi's soul take on the process of adaptation, something we also never knew could be done and was just an excuse to bail Sukuna out of being hit and not having to withstand the effect.
Mahoraga adapting a method exclusively for Sukuna to copy even though it's never explained if Mahoraga can just pick and choose adaptations.

Sukuna shooting a free WCS was explained the manga. All Gege’s interview said was Gojo droppes his guard but if his guard was up he may have avoided a lethal hit.

How is Sukuna being interested in Megumi an asspull? Like an asspull by definition is that it comes out of nowhere with no explanation. If it is forshadowed it isn’t an asspull.

Mahoraga adapting a method he could copy was luck on Sukuna’s part. Mahoraga merely performs multiple adaptations to a given phenomena and that last one was something Sukuna could copy

Explained doesn't mean its not an asspull. And I'm talking about the part where Gojo not being able to avoid it because he was off guard. Gojo should've learned to not drop his guard, yet here he is doing it against his strongest opponent. And this is after he thought about Toji minutes ago.

If you don't wanna call it an asspull that's fine, you can say its more contrived in a retroactive way since it serves no other purpose than to make Gojo vs Sukuna realistic.

It randomly just so happened Mahoraga adapted to where Sukuna could copy a method right as Gojo's regaining his rct through bf?

It's 1998, you can't possibly find that many at such early era of internet
My original draft for my comment was "She peeked over into the bathroom stalls of other classmates".
Either way she probably did something to find pictures of other people pooping. I don't know what and quite frankly I don't need to know either.

I have been seeing those memes and every time I open my Twitter feed I see a new creative installment which I can't help but laugh at. However what throws me off is some of the comments calling it "slander". That would imply people are looking at the scene negatively, rather than just finding the wording funny.

It is similar to the "Invincible title card" meme or the "nah I'd win" meme. People are not necessarily mocking the scene. They are just finding the wording and context humorous.

I do not really see how it is slanderous.

@GunshyFever

Side note, on your CRT you are noting that Primals will scale to Yoru's Gun Goddess via TK/Gravity Manip and not physically

Therefore can that argument be made for Falling Devil's global gravity invertion feat then? She wouldn't physicall scale obviously but with her powers...I mean...( and that regardless of wherever it scales...I seen calcs from 6-B to 5-C so idk )

It is considerably difficult to do so because although there was worldwide structural damage, it was still shown to be very selective, so we do not know to what extent. It is honestly better to calculate the feat of her lifting several buildings instead.

But if we were to attempt it. Gravitational Fluctuations over a singular nation would be a suitable lowball imo.

Over tokyo would be a nice low end

Would the fact that it is stated specifically that she reversed gravity of the planet itself imply she'd need to output enough to negate it?
