Pochita was the best friend Denji could've ever had.
No wonder one of their inspirations were Finn and Jake

wasn't the point of denji's character to like accept his true nature and learn how to live and be satisfied by learning to love and form connections why did basically his conclusion end with pochita saying the opposite

I think at his core the author is pessimistic. So they can't right that type of ending. Suffering is real, but not happiness.

Schopenhauer, insatisfaction is a costant in human nature

Pochita might have the biggest self-deprication in fiction ever, they erased themselves FROM EXISTENCE, just because they thought that they are the reason why the friend they love so much, is suffering

What the hell was that chapter?!
Chapter 96 also said "Final Chapter Next Time!" so it could be that Part 3 is coming. Or maybe it won't be. I would like to see something come from Denji's Blood Devil Contract.
Where are you all seeing that next chapter is the final chapter?

If it is the finale, I hope it's the finale of Part 2 and we get a Part 3. If not, then Fujimoto really screwed the pooch here (that idiom has some extra meaning here since Pochita is getting screwed over).

... Does this mean that Part 1 and 2 never happened now?
In theory, now Denji never had a friend his whole life and died of Heart disease or Yakuza.
Unless Pochita erasing certain devils and his general antics were what lead to Denji getting the heart disease or his father becoming a pice of shit in the first place

Well shit, I guess it really is ending next chapter. Still the announcement does specify part two is ending, so there's still room for hope cope!

Edit: Wait, this is an unofficial account.

Chainsawman part 2 is ending, it didn't say chainsawman
I just realized that it's an unofficial account, so their words don't really mean anything.

Also, I just read the chapter, and it doesn't say anything about next chapter being the finale. They might've changed it, but it just says "To be continued," so hold on to your cope everyone.

someone on reddit explained it:
Ok so let's recap for those saying Pochita is wrong telling Denji he was happier before they merged.
  • When Pochita and Denji were living in poverty we always saw them as happy (aka the chrismas cake special and multiple flashbacks). Denji had nothing but a friend and dreams and those dreams were enough to make him carry on
  • Once Pochita replaces Denji's heart, he gets a shot at fullfilling those dreams. In fact he even does really fast by touching Power's breasts. What was his reaction -> incredibly disappointed. Now the part one leads you to think it's because he isn't intimate with her, but actually with Pochita's speech we could now say it's because it feels better to dream something than to actually do it. That can be confirmed by Denji's and Nayuta relationship. His second dream is to have a family, and yet once he does it does not fullfill him at all. All he can think about is being the chainsaw man (cf the crash out in front of the tv, him smiling when his house burned...). Even Nayuta's death makes him fall for a while, but he quickly recovers and never mentions her again.
  • So why does he want to be the chainsaw man and why is it bad for him ? -> Because being the chainsaw man means for Denji to be alone with Pochita like the earlier days when he was happy. He didn't find fullfillness in the accomplishment of his dreams so he goes back to dreaming of simpler times. This is the same reason why he didn't went out to find Power, because deep down he knows that dreaming of the time spent with her makes him happier that founding out this new Power would.

The last page of chapter 231 says "Final Chapter Coming 3/24!"
I just checked the chapter again because I was confused about you all saying that next chapter is the finale. It doesn't say that (at least, it doesn't anymore); it just says "To be continued!"

I would post an image, but I can't figure it out right now.

Says Final Chapter on Jump+ and TBC on Viz site. Amanda translates both so it's strange.
