Look: A demon with purple and black skin and jagged horns protruding from his head. His face is lizardlike with sharp jagged teeth, his hands are like spiders, and his muscular build is streamlined rather than like the top bodybuilders. His eyes are like skull eyeholes with orange fireballs glowing in them, but one of his eyes has no fireball and that eye is on the left side, where hideous scars and burn marks turn that side of his face black and like that of a burn victim's, with spots of bone showing. His mouth glows with a orange glow from the throat, and his tail is half as long as his body and has several spikes sticking out of the top like what you'd have from your average dragon. He wields a scythe that often shifts in and out of focus, slipping from shape to shadow. The weapon is pure midnight black with wisps trailing off of it, but the only part of it that does not have those traits is the purple gem embedded in the middle of the scythe's metal pommel where the jagged blade extends from, with orange flames coming off of it and carved black spikes spiking outwards from its place like a demonic sun.

Shard: Dead Shard

Costume: Armor. Its basically body armor that looks like what you'd expect from a Diablo 3 top-level knight, but it excludes a helmet. The armor is midnight black and seems to have faces constantly screaming and pressing against the armor from inside, as if trying to escape.

As the group looks around, they continue to not pick up any clues on where the figure could be.

Nicholas realizes that either the person who they were chasing after left the area or they were back at the airport while still concealed in a manner that he couldn't detect.

@Standuser081

As you take a step outside, you notice the sun has risen. It does seem to be a bit early in the morning, as not many people seem to be on the streets. You notice a guy jogging on the other side of the sidewalk while you walk.

@Junkoposter

The cloaking device is completed.

@CrimsonStarFallen

You wake up to the feeling of a wooden board slamming on your face. As you get up, you realize that one of the boards in the ceiling of the broken down house you were squatting in came undone during the night. Besides the rain pouring through the holes in the ceiling, you don't hear anything around you.

@DMUA

Gurman opens his eyes to find himself in the base. Kenshin's practicing takedown moves on a punching dummy, while Transfer Student's scrolling on her phone. He sees Man of the Mirror doing maintenance on the security systems, making sure everything's running smoothly.

@WHYNAUT

You arrive at Brockton Bay, having called a favor from one of your old contacts to get you to the city before the heat from failing your last job caught up with you. This is the city where you've heard that the cape who can heal people, Panacea, lives.

@Dusty_Raider

You wake up on top of a pile of ragged blankets and towels. Before you even look around, the smell reminds you that you were sleeping in the sewers. Beside the occasional rat skittering around, it is silent.

@Tago238

You wake up on a rooftop covered in old newspapers to the sound of gunfire going off. If you look down, you see that the building you're on is right above the middle of a skirmish between the Empire and the ABB.

@Hl3_or_bust

As you continue to drive down the road, you pass by a sign that says "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada". One of the non warped clones is sitting in the passenger seat while the other one and the warped clone are in the back of the truck.

@The_Smashor

Carlos leads you to what looks like a laser tag area. He starts pressing buttons on a console near the beginning of the area and then gestures for you to hide behind some obstacles.

"There's going to be some holograms that pop up in a few seconds. If you want to attack him, that would be the best time."

Well, at least we're getting there...

It was nothing short of bad luck that got us here, even if we don't really believe in that stuff. Our old warehouse got raided by some goons, and we were all that got out. Not that bad, though, we only lost 3 and 7, both of whom were pretty serious liabilities due to their deformities. 1, which is myself, 2, 4, and 5 managed to sneak out in the dead of night, commandeering a pickup on the way out, but 5 had to swap herself so many times that she forgot the last week or so of major events.

Ah well, we can make due. 1, 2, and 4 all look like the normals, and 5 isn't especially deformed, only looking strange under close observation with her general lack of internal organs. We didn't manage to nab any cape bodies, though...

2 clears his throat, as if to start conversation, before spitting some phlegm out of the window. Opening the back window, 3 pipes up instead.

"So what's the plan boss?"

"... well, you know the obvious: lay low, keep an eye on any capes, don't attract attention. I'd keep the first at the top of the priority list. For now, we just exist, nothing more, nothing less, ey?"

3 shrugs.

I continue driving along the road.

Gurman gets out of his bed, slowly waltzing over to the showers. Man in the mirror silently takes note, as he continues working on some things. Eventually, TS, as it's abbreviated, speaks up.

"... You've been hitting that thing for like, 5 minutes without saying anything and I'm slightly concerned."

"... Oh, wait, he's finally up."

"Huh?"

"The whole reason I even dropped in was to start hitting this dummy until he actually reacted to the noise. By my count, it takes 53 hits."

"... Yeah that's what I expected."

With some time, Gurman is suited up.

"... Any reports from base?"

Man in the mirror goes to check...

A hood and sunglasses covered most of Adam's pale face as he walked down a street in Brockton Bay with his umbrella. Before getting a place to stay at he wanted to scout out the area. He took in his surroundings, paying great attention to all the nooks and crannies of the city.

Ugh, how did I get into this mess? Things would be so much easier if I still held my old position.

"...mhmm."

Quite a terrible day for rain. What a stupid idea that was, sleeping in a broken down house... then again, i'm all bad ideas. I look outside the house again and try to remember where the hell i am.

“Here we go.” As he got up, OK began to do his morning stretches before he began looking for nearest manhole to view what’s going on top side.

@Hl3_or_bust

While you drive around the city, you notice that one of the casinos is having a large amount of people exit at the same time. They look panicked and a solid majority of them have pulled out their phones.

@DMUA

Man finds calls about people finding lots of dead Merchants being found.

@WHYNAUT

During the time that you travel through the Commercial District, you note that the buildings in the area are in good shape and a good portion of the civilians are dressed like the traditional upper class you've seen in other jobs you've taken. A closer look at some of the people walking around reveals swastika symbols under their clothing. This matches up with what you've heard about the local gangs in the city.

[Are you heading North or East?]

@CrimsonStarFallen

You remember that you decided to sleep in the house because the local gang happened to have a large patrol around your secret lair. Since you weren't sure about being able to kill them all without word getting out, you wanted to play it safe so that the upper brass in the gang didn't realize where your base was. You picked a spot that seemed close enough to the base that you wouldn't have to go far to get back but far enough that they wouldn't comb over it in the patrol.

@Dusty_Raider

As you look out the manhole, you see that nothing is particularly out of the ordinary. It's early in the morning so not that many people are walking about and you see a few members of the ABB standing around the entrance to alleyways.

[North]

Adam looked at google maps and decided to keep heading north for now, making mental notes of places to stay at.

I more or less keep my eyes on the road, only really thinking about the crowd when 2 speaks.

"Thas preddy spooky, innit?"

God, I hate his accent.

"I suppose. Best I can imagine is someone went ballistic and everyone else was evacuated. Shouldn't be a huge issue, I don't think..."

4 pipes up from the back window, looking somewhat panicked herself.

"W-what if you're wrong?"

"Ugh, if I'm wrong we'll deal with it when it comes up. We aren't exactly being shot at yet, so maybe don't panic already?"

3 huffs before returning to her spot against the tailgate.

I keep driving, looking for any sort of hotel, preferably the cheapest-looking thing in the known universe.

Closing the manhole, OK found a nearby storm drain and slithered out as a rattlesnake and stealthily began to slither towards the ABB members. He made sure to mask his presence anyway he could as he listened in on what they were talking about if anything.

Right, yeah. Those guys were bad news in general... shit, are they still there? Leaving would be a terrible idea. Hmmm.

Glimpse.

I look 10 minutes into the future, running some what if scenarios. For example, what if i just went ahead to my hide out?

"... Sounds like it's worth checking out."

The whole team gets suited up. TS and Man of the Mirror put on their masks, while the other two just keep it as is.

S.R.E.E. searches the web again to if she can find anymore info on Squealers location. She wants her Metal Gear.

She gets her new cloak-bot ready to go with some of the drones she made earlier if Squealers location is found.

@WHYNAUT

As Adam goes North, he enters Downtown and takes notice of the fact that some buildings are tagged with Empire 88 symbols. Other than that it seems like a relatively clean part of the city, with the buildings being a bit less in quality than the ones in the Commercial District but still maintaining good appearances. Adam sees more people besides joggers walking around since business hours are starting.

@Hl3_or_bust

As you keep driving, you notice a man in armor walk into the casino as people move out of the way for him. After a while, you find a hotel painted in an ugly yellow named "The Golden Powder".

@Dusty_Raider

He sneaks up to the gangsters without being noticed, but has trouble understanding what they're saying to each other since they're mainly speaking Japanese with only a few words of English being thrown around. Something about heaviness and metal.

@CrimsonStarFallen

The path to the hideout in the simulated future is mainly peaceful and you don't see any of the gang members, but near the end of the ten minutes you can see that the ground morphs into spikes that stretch to impale you. Your view fades to black.

@DMUA

Heading to the general area where most of the bodies were found, the Trainyard, the group finds some bloodstains on the ground. The trail breaks off a few times, but with the whole team looking, they manage to trace it back to a large storage container. One of the ends of it has the metal distorted and warped.

@Junkoposter

S.R.E.E doesn't find any info on Squealer's whereabouts specifically but narrows down that the Merchant's territory generally consists of the Trainyard and the boat graveyard.

Parking outside of the hotel, momentarily checking a rather thick wallet, I turn to the other bodies.

"I'm Aaron," I point to each of them as I speak "Byron, Dave, and Eva. Same code as before, just new names."

We disembark from the truck, 5's legs appearing oddly "springy" as she pushes herself over the side, and we enter the front door.

The team is mostly desensitized to this sort of thing... though, Man of the Mirror still opts to stay away from the worst of carnage.

Gurman takes a look at the storage container.

"... Shakers who ignore the manton effect are rare, so we're likely dealing with a Brute or Striker of some kind... Stay on guard, and don't be afraid to run if you meet them."

Kenshin just rolls his eyes

"Yeah yeah, standard procedure..."

The hinges are off, as if someone tried to shove the door back in place after ripping it off to cover their tracks... Gurman tries tearing off what's left of the storage container's door, and looks inside.

Well that’s not much to go off of. Heaviness and metal? They could be talking about transporting cargo for the ABB...or their favorite kind of music.

OK started paying closer attention to their conversation hoping they might say a location or name. He would decide what to do after he got as much information as he could.

I gulp, hard.

"You gotta be kidding me."

Well, still, as long as it's just one guy, i should be able to deal with it. I can do this. He only attacks me at 10 minutes from now, and in that timeframe i can switch powers.

I walk there. Precog should trigger whenever i'm on my way to danger.

@Worm GM guy (Dragon)

S.R.E.E. takes over her new cloak-bot, arming it up. She then takes a squad of attack drones plus two normal S.R.E.E. bots.

They head out to the Merchant's territory, being as stealthy as possible. Ima get that darn mech.

Adam continues going north, still observing his surroundings.

Maybe this situation isn't so bad. If Panacea can actually help me, this could be a fresh start. If she can help me at least.

@Hl3_or_bust

You walk into the building and notice that beside the attendant behind the desk, there aren't any people in the lobby. The attendant looks up at you with a tired look in his eyes.

"Welcome to the Golden Powder, what can I do for you?"

@DMUA

The first thing that hits the group is the smell. A sweet, sickly smell mixed in with the unforgettable stench of rotting flesh. The storage container is filled with dead bodies. The closer to the entrance, the fresher the bodies are. The state of the bodies also follows this pattern, with the bodies near the back of the container having gouged out throats or snapped necks while the ones in the front have gaping holes in their chests or have been separated into halves. There are even a few heads that aren't connected to a body. From the consistent look of the clothing, the corpses were either homeless or Merchants, although those aren't necessarily exclusive categories.

@Dusty_Raider

They keep talking for a while and then eventually you hear "Boat" and "Graveyard" within quick succession of each other.

@CrimsonStarFallen

You go along the same path as last time and after about ten minutes, the ground starts to move like it did in the simulation before it formed into spikes.

@Junkoposter

As the robot squad spread throughout the territory looking for Squealer, each one comes across Merchants in some manner. Some are huddled up around a trash can fire, noticeably armed and looking nervous, while others are inside of warehouses. Despite this, Squealer is nowhere to be found.

But then, one of the S.R.E.E robots finds a warehouse with a heavily modified truck parked next to it.

@WHYNAUT

As Adam continues to head north, he enters the Boardwalk. He sees that business is doing well as lots of people are moving about the various stores and restaurants on the side. To his right, he can see a large structure out in the water that resembles a futuristic mini city. From what he'd heard, what he was looking at was the headquarters for the local Protectorate. During his walk, he doesn't see any gang insignias like in the other districts he passed through.

Man of the mirror immediately holds his nose and looks away. Transfer Student holds up somewhat better, but, still, stench isn't pleasant for anyone. Except for Kenshin, he just whiffs it.

"... Wew... That's the good stuff, right there."

Everyone ignores it, and Gurman and Transfer Student analyze the bodies.

"... These holes look like they could have been made by a punch. Then again, the further back you go, the methods change... It might just be a Changer that can overlap with Brute. Maybe even one that gets more feral the more they use their powers... Poor guy."

"... Either way, what we're dealing with is dangerous. We should probably keep an eye on this area, stake it out and wait to see if there are any more bodies. TS, Man of the Mirror, leaving it to you, me and Kenshin will go see if there are any similar cases, or if another situation comes up."

"... You know, I don't get that, why do you only abreviate one of their names? Heck, Man in the Mirror is longer? Shouldn't it be TS and MOM?"

"... You missed a T."

"You're not my MOM, don't tell me what to do."

Man of the Mirror just, takes a moment to process that, confusing himself throughly. Meanwhile, Gurman flicks Kenshin in the head, knocking him to the ground.

"... Well, that wouldn't be a problem if she picked a more sensible hero name."

"Hey, if everyone's busy laughing about how ridiculous the name Transfer Student is, they won't have to worry."

Gurman sighs, knowing this argument has happened to no avail before, and it's not going to get anything now. Kenshin backflips onto his feet.

"... Man, you didn't even draw any blood, you're getting soft."

Gurman just starts walking off to the PRT headquarters, and Kenshin follows. Meanwhile, the two left over look around for a good hiding spot.

Stop! Stop goddamnit! A time stop bubble appears within my body and expands. It should effectively work as a forcefield against the spikes. Shit. This will last me 30 minutes and i can make another one, making it about a hour to be exact. That should give me enough time to choose and test 6 powers to figure out how the **** i leave this situation. These spikes better not have anti-temporal resistance... i sit down in my bubble and-

Temporal Blast.

I look around, see if any of the gangsters or whatever is attacking me passed through here.

‘The boat graveyard huh?’ He thought to himself. He had gotten some of his favorite from there. Why buy lobster when you could catch it? Ok goes back into the sewers and begins moving towards the exit closest to the Boat Graveyard.

@Dragoon

The cloaked S.R.E.E. goes to check it out, the drones and bots hidden around outside, ready to come in for support if need-be.

Let's see. The local Protectorate HQ is there. Panacea is part of New Wave. New Wave... Where is it situated?

Adam ponders as he keeps on walking.

@DMUA

After a while, Gurman and Kenshin make it to the local PRT base. Entering the mostly empty lobby, they get surprised looks from the people inside. At the other side of the room, the clerk is typing something into the computer behind the desk.

Transfer Student and Man of the Mirror find a spot behind a dumpster that they could both hide behind.

@CrimsonStarFallen

As the bubble expands to its full length, the area where the ground was shifting forms into spikes. The spikes extend toward you, seemingly piercing through the bubble. However, the spikes stop about a meter away from you. You are wracked with an intense pain, harsh enough to make you see stars. As you prepare to aim with Temporal Blast, you note that none of the gangsters who passed through the area remained in it.

@Dusty_Raider

He arrives at the exit, but once he does, he begins to feel a weight pressing down on him. Coming out of the exit, he see that there are a lot of balls of metal on the ground near holes on the sides of ships.

@Junkoposter

As the S.R.E.E goes inside, the robot steps on a puddle. Upon closer inspection, the liquid is blood. Looking around, the S.R.E.E sees that there are lots of dead bodies and dents all over the walls. Near the back of the warehouse, S.R.E.E detects another room. The entrance is almost covered by the corpses around it.

@WHYNAUT

As Adam continues into the market, he remembers that Panacea usually volunteers at hospitals. Passing by the numerous stalls at marketplace, he arrives at a hill overlooking the Boat Graveyard. Numerous rusted ships are laid out across the ground, and the sun's starting to go down.

[Like post noon down, it's not sunset]

@Hl3_or_bust

The attendant looks at the group.

"One room for all of you?"

Upon remembering this, Adam searches for all hospital locations in Brockton Bay. Afterwards, unless he stumbled upon something interesting, he would search for a place to stay at.

This weight...this what they meant by heaviness. Still OK wasn’t going to just walk away. He continued to look hoping to see something that might clue him in as to what’s going on.

Both of them sit behind the dumpster, waiting.

"... We're going to be here awhile, aren't we."

Transfer Student is already looking at her phone, scrolling through things.

"... Am I going to be the only one watching out for our guy?"

"I've got other things to watch."

She does eventually put it away, and peaks over the dumpster alongside him.

"... You know, people never really tell you that being a cape involves plenty of just standing around, waiting."

"Well, you can't exactly turn that into a recruitment ad. People want to see the exciting stuff. Then, when they're reeled in, things get more quiet. Maybe just sitting around is a prize on it's own... Nobody's trying to shoot you or throw a chunk of your body into another dimension."

"... Yeah, I guess, but... Jeez..."

Man of the Mirror uses X-Ray vision and power sight, sweeping through the area for anything they missed, before just returning a normal gaze to the shipping container.

Gurman waves to the clerk, then moves on to try and get more information on what they've just seen.

Shit! What the ****!? The pain is so strong it knocks me on my ass. What the hell was that? I start checking for my body, in case i actually got hurt.

In any case, Temporal Blast is useless, so i wait for another 10 minutes while checking myself out.

@Junkoposter

As the drones go through the door, they see that it led to a garage with numerous vehicles that were in various states of repair. Next to one of the cars, an ominous figure stands carrying a body in each hand. The figure is humanoid and dark in tone with wisps of darkness flowing off of it, and seems almost like a solid shadow. The figure is holding one of the bodies up in the air. Zooming in reveals that one of the corpses is a blonde female being held up by a snapped neck and the other is a black male with yellow teeth and chapped lips being dragged across the ground. The drones deduct that the bodies are Squealer and Skidmark. The figure begins to morph, its skin becoming more like a grey metal armor with a blue light coming from the gaps in the armor.

@WHYNAUT

Adam mentally notes down all the hospital locations he can find as he traces his steps through Brockton. After a while of searching for a place to stay the night, he finds a hotel named "Al's Resting Place."

@Dusty_Raider

Looking around the area, OK finds more metal balls and ripped up ship pieces. As he continues to move around, he finds that the weight disappears in the same areas where he doesn't find metal balls.

@DMUA

As Man of the Mirror scans the area, he doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. Well, beside the bodies but he already knew about those. The duo wait around, but no one seems to be coming.

The clerk looks up as Gurman and Kenshin come over.

"How can I help you today?"

@Hl3_or_bust

The attendant nods.

"Alright. How long do you plan on staying?"

@CrimsonStarFallen

Checking yourself, you don't find any wounds on your body. In the ten minutes that you wait, you aren't attacked again.

@Dragoon

****, there goes my plans to make someone else build metal gears. Guess she'll have to do it herself then.

The cloaked-S.R.E.E. silently enters the room, making sure to avoid anything that could alert the shadow boi to her presence. The rest of the bots and drones get into position around the building, weapons at the ready. Let's see what this lad is up to...

They sit around for a bit longer... and a bit longer...

"... Did he say how long we should be reasonably waiting?"

Man of the mirror gets his hair ruffled.

"Come on, lighten up, it's only been... 15 minutes. They'll be back eventually to tell us this probably won't go anywhere, if it comes to that."

"Yeah yeah..."

Man of the Mirror feels minorly uncomfortable with that contact, but, it's over now... Just keep waiting.

"Why, the job's getting boring, so I just had to come over to the cute button operating the- GHUHG"

Gurman chops Kenshin on the back of the head, immediately sending him to the ground.

"We're here to get some extra information on the report we got."
