Calculating Stone Spike AP

Title is self explanatory. The feat in question is this, and I'm not sure how to go about getting the AP. Would it be like water feats where you use latent heat of fusion? I vaguely rememeber seeing a similar calculation for the FMA verse but can't find it to use as reference.
