Atlus' Metaphor: ReFantazio Discussion Thread

I feel like most of these are ambigious except for the star crushing one. and splitting heaven and earth but that's a bit iffy imo.
If we can get the original Japanese dialogue for any or all of them, it might help clarify things.

Personally, I think the "split between heaven and earth" is ambiguous; Did the king split himself?

What is the World Tree in Re:Fantazio's world? Is it like Yggdrasil, for 9 realms?

Also what defines heaven and earth in this since. Like did he split two parrallel universes or what? It feels kinda like flowerly language to sell the weapon's power. hence why i'm iffy on it vs the more direct star crushing statement.
and yeah that's why I find the world tree description to be vauge

Could be a etrian odyssey reference. ReFantazio directly rips a location from etrian odyssey as well.
Does it meet our crossover standards or such to assume it's the same Yggdrasil?

Plus, if Re:Fantazio's world is a world in a storybook, that'd imply it's isolated, unless Etrian Odyssey's world(s) are also in such a book, no?

i think only thing that meets standards is MegaTen connections

personally I'm not even convinced by the megaten connections. but you know we'll have to see what more people think whenever profiles get made.

we have direct mentions of megaten cosmology aspects existing in metaphor btw like super direct things
I've seen what was put earlier in the thread, i'm still not fully sold on that meaning they are connected. This also includes the demon's being referenced as they can simply be easter eggs/references. But like I said, more opinion's are always appreciated to hear. I'd at least prefer to hear other methods to scale Metaphor before we jump the gun and just scale it to Unviersal/1-A/where ever it'd end up in the SMT scale. (Edit: to be clear I do know that a lot of the metaphor power-scaling is soley based off what's in said game)

It was none of what I put btw

Im definetly not sold on the demon's being the megaten demons.

There's like no real connection to anything in the megaten verse beyond them having the same design which could easily just be them reusing assets and making references. I mean, the 'soul hacker' archetype is clearly not meant to be an ACTUAL soul hacker from megaten after all.

like unless I somehow missed some lore while I was getting the platinum there's nothing really there at all besides people used to worship gods and created vessels to summon them.

Heck, even yggradsil isn't mentioned in any of the lore or anything in the game, so we can't even really say anything about it other than there's a staff that mentions it.

Think it's best to get back to the feats discussed before so it doesn't get too off topic. And I'm sorry for bringing this whole thing up in the first place.

Anyway's it seems like there are a few decent Planet to maybe star level statements.
Any other feats just in case those are seen as iffy without anything backing them up?
And any speed feats?

maybe if there's a reason to scale lightning and light stuff to real deal

I'm honestly not sure why you are being coy about what's in the game, like why aren't you just telling us what it is besides posting emoji and being secretive?

I've plat'd the game and there's nothing that connects it to megaten that I could find. Unless we're really like banking hard-core on what's more than likely just them making references/Easter eggs in the 'devil summoner' archetype.

Or- like your using in game file names for some of the junk in shinjuku or something?

I can say.

So basically Assiah is said to be the physical world while magic comes from Atziluth and one of devil summoner items directly says you summon demons from the sea of souls. You can't really dismiss it as just being a reference either when it's directly using megaten cosmology to explain the function of something.

Where is any of that mentioned? I saw zero reference to any of that beside the sea of souls which is like not even something that's unique to megaten but I guess it's at least something. Though it doesn't say you summon demons from the sea of souls it just says 'summons supernatural powers from the sea of souls'

Hold up, you can't literally mean the singular 7 word description on the reflect items from the monster teeth do you?!? Like, inferring the mirror of assiah saying 'mirror thst seems to reflect the physical world' is like evidence that it's 100% connection to megaten is wild.

Come on.

the supernatural powers in question:
latest

You know exactly what it means with the context surrounding it. Dont play dumb.
This isn't playing dumb, this is mocking the absurdity of it.

Also, considering the khakkara isnt what summons them in the first place, I'm not sure why you're saying that?

What summons them is the vessels you craft to get access to their powers. The actual staff has zero to do with it besides the kharbidos which is explicitly special.

The only single staff that mentions that is relegated to studying every archetype and doesn't actually do anything or give you access to any summons or have any vessels like kharbidos did.

So if anyone's ignoring context it would be you.

心の海から超常の力を喚ぶ者の錫杖
"The staff of the one who calls forth supernatural powers from the sea of souls/hearts"
Yea it's (a staff/summoner thingy by mastering archetypes with eupha a summoner) not doing the summoning but it belongs to those who summons from the sea of souls. The connection couldn't be any more clearer as the summoning mechanic is still actively summoning shit from sea of souls which well includes demons? If you forcefully separate the megaten aspect of the sea of souls then you're just doing mental gymnastics.

The english localization that says it specifically summons from sea of souls is just a mistranslation.

As someone willing to play this at some point, are we going with the planetary calcs? Or are we throwing this on the SMT wank piles pages for our T1 stuff?
