Ability Activation.

I know. I'm saying I don't think there is enough to justify a whole page.
You mean Standard Battle Assumptions? If so.
Then we won't change everything, but rather. Just adding about the always active hax in the SBA Rules section.

If I'm wrong, please forgive me. I couldn't focus well today.

Previously I had asked in this thread, regarding Always Active and Passive Activation, some staff had also answered in that thread. In addition, Ability Activation is not on the VSB Page, so I am interested in making a crt for the Page to be created immediately.

Ability Activation

Different ways of activating abilities or skills:

1. Active.
Abilities or Skills belonging to this group require "special requirements" in order to be activated, each time they are used, such as:
  • Must cast a spell first.
  • Clapping hands.
  • Snapping fingers.
  • Raising the hand.

Some examples of abilities or skills in fiction that fall under this group:
  • Various Magic in Trinity Seven
  • Various Ninjutsu in Naruto
  • Any ability that requires physical movement, such as punching, kicking, slashing, etc., when releasing it.
  • ?

---

2. Thought Based.
Abilities or skills that fall into this group actually do not require certain preparations or movements in order to be activated, aka "only need to be imagined / thought" so that it can be activated every time you want to use it, even just by desire also qualifies as Thought Based Activation..

3. Passive.
Abilities or Skills that fall into this group actually have a "Passive" nature, which is able to activate by itself, because it is triggered by a certain thing.

Some examples of abilities or skills in fiction that fall under this group:
  • ?

4. Always Active.
Abilities or Skills included in this group can and will continue to be active until someone (Whether it's the user or someone else) is able to deactivate the Ability or Skill (Either in a subtle way or by force).

Some examples of abilities or skills in fiction that fall under this group:
  • Aura in Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken

Also, this is just my understanding, so I need your input.
Thankyou...
Making a whole new page for these... I think it's better to put it in VSBattle Glossary than making a new page for these, though some profiles have "passive" written beside their abilities.

Standard Battle Assumption page isn't used for explaining all of the "page" you proposed, rather it explains about the rules on matchups on this wiki.

Why would it be better to make a page for this than to just explain the ability on the profile

I agree with Op sole purpose that it's needed to establish difference between passive and activation abilities/skills but it can be done under already existing page there is no need to make new page for it.

Tbh, I saw many profiles that have a “passive” section in power and abilities (if the hax are a lot) and if it is not enough, there are many characters that have “passive” beside the said ability. I am sure you are purposing this for the abilities that are “thought-based”. Welp, is this not enough to clarify it in Notable and techniques?

For Rimuru verse, the rimuru verse supporters could create a page for abilities and users who have thought—based and added it to relevant characters.
Active is self-explanatory. Always active can be added into Notable and techniques.

One could explain the terms somewhere I guess. Although I also played with the ideas of making some sort of "passive ability"-ability in the past...

That said, common use of the terms is in my experience different.
I think "passive" usually means always on when we use it. Sometimes "triggered" abilities (i.e. what you call passive) get included in that as well, though.
Also let me add that by SBA it is crucial that a passive (in the always on sense) ability not only can always be turned on, but in fact always is turned on. Or at least 51% of the time. That's because in SBA battles a person is summoned from a random time of their day, so if they don't have their ability on now it won't be automatically activated in battle. So passive isn't only about how an ability can be used, but also about how an ability is used in practice.
escanor from seven deadly sins is perfect example for this.

3. Passive.
Abilities or Skills that fall into this group actually have a "Passive" nature, which is able to activate by itself, because it is triggered by a certain thing.

good example : Many runic magic/items in God of War Norse. For example spatial manip which activate when damage is taken, dodging enemies attack, hitting enemies, etc.

Can somebody write an explanation regarding what should be applied here, and a tally for which staff members that think what in that regard, please?

Ok. I fear this will lead to misconceptions if not done properly
  • We are not saying when a character can active an ability in many ways. There is bound to be people that see a character activate abilities in many ways but only see whatever is the most broken. Or do recognize that they trigger their abilities in more than 1 way but only claim that for battle they only do so in the most broken way, regardless of what their media may actually portray them doing in-character, with the people here being aware of how better it is to trigger powers as soon as possible, but maybe the media portraying that the characters themselves doesn't follow this train of thought at all (Either because they simply don't, or because it's easier or better for them to use those powers in that way & this is left unsaid for the audience to understand anyway, by virtue of the characters doing those "convoluted activation requirements" from time to time).
  • It's not like an ability just happens at once upon being first triggered, there are other factors at play like the time it takes to manifest after being triggered and the time until it is completely finished, which in turn can vary from display to display of very same ability.
There is obviously not going to be any issue for those who build profiles in an accurate way, but when writing down standards like this we need to make sure wank & exaggerations aren't possible, even if one has the ability so simply view the standards & do everything right due to them.

I would only agree with this if it covers those topics I mentioned, properly. It should take 2 paragraphs at minimum.

ah shit, I forgot about this thread and completely forgot why I brought this up in the past, and yes, there was some misunderstanding on my part about the activation I described above, and I already talked to Ant, that maybe in the future I will make a new crt with more solid arguments.

with this, I think this thread can be closed.
