How powerful would be a worldwide storm?

To give details to this novel I read:
  • It should've lasted around 5 minutes maximum.
  • It reduced Bronze Age civilizations 11 thousand years ago back to the Stone Age. History then went as we know it minus this event.

According to this page the energy required to create a planetary storm varies from as small as 4.09 Zettajoules (978 Giatons of TNT/Large Island level+) to as large as 48.2 Zettajoules (11.5 Teratons of TNT/Country level) though it all depends on the height and thickness of the clouds

depends on the storm and how it was done
there is one calc that can reach up to a continent level using the condensation method
so yeah it varies and context is needed on how strong the storm is since a method to calc them is either condensation method or cape method
