I don't think this really has to do with the story/characters, though. It seems more just like a standard error message with some flavor text, that's all.

I understand that, but it's not really related to the story or anything of the like. Were it in the actual narrative of the story, I could see it, but this is merely the response to an error in the game's code, which is merely a cuter way to say "The game's data is corrupted/damaged," etc.

Its an error code. You have to go into the games coding and wreck something, a power that is exclusive to The Player. Since we count hacking the game as Non-canon, this isn't canon.
