I admire the attempt to tier characters across all fiction, but I can no longer deny that it is a fundamentally flawed concept that I wish I could get out of my mind. However, what happens here on VS Battles is worse than that. It is outright nonsense.

This site literally has created its own pseudo-religion, complete with its own cosmology about how actual math aligns with the physics of destructive force, astronomy, (unprovable) higher dimensions, and fiction-reality transcendence.

All that would be fine if the respective works of fiction were taken at face value when tiering characters. But that's not what happens here.

This site rejects in-verse statements and feats by characters when they violate the rules that VS Battles has concocted.

Example:

MCU Thor is "Large Planet Level" ... despite the fact that in Thor 1, Selvig's book says Mjolnir's creation caused a star to explode and almost take Earth with it (Nidavellir is in another galaxy than Earth) -- same book being correct about the existence of Asgard, the Bifrost, Thor, Odin, Loki, Heimdall, Baldur, and Mjonir's creation at a star; Thor 1 director Kenneth Branagh said on the director's commentary that during the climax (timestamp 1:36:36), Loki put part or all of the universe at risk with the Bifrost energy beam, which Thor tanked; we see the Bifrost causing a physical storm on Earth when its entire energy beam is in two other non-Earth galaxies; and it clearly looks like the Bifrost was sucking in dozens of stars at MFTL speed.

Conversely, this site exaggerates statements and feats by characters to align with the rules that VS Battles has concocted.

Example:

Bugs Bunny is Low 1-C because he can draw the cartoon. Yet the video used as proof also shows Elmer Fudd do the same thing to Bugs. Do people here actually believe that Bugs Bunny is Low Complex Multiverse Level?!

These are just the examples that I fixate on. But there are so many more. And a lot of this is due to the internal cosmology VS Battles has concocted. This thread is the best example:

https://vsbattles.com/threads/on-the-many-many-incoherences-of-the-tiering-system.159803/

It's 531 posts spanning 3 months, about the VS Battles view on nothing less than the nature of reality -- or rather the power tiers of fiction, reality, dimensions, and reality-fiction transcendence. People get into deep math and logic debates there with hardly anybody showing their own credentials as PhDs of math, physics, and/or philosophy. Of course, ultimately the decision came down to a popular online vote -- again, among people who did not reveal any formal institutionally accredited training in math, science, and/or philosophy. That's how reality was deemed "true" here. Look, either the tiers and character feats here are dependent on actual math and science, or they are not. You can't both create your own internal cosmology about these things and also claim to judge characters with objective actual math and science.

Btw, it also spawned a "commoners thread" further pontificating on these concepts, that has been ongoing for 5 months at over 4,000 posts and counting. People there literally have admitted not understanding the system:

There's a reason why someone else here recently posted "How many of you guys believe in the tiering system?" I swear on my own soul and my mother's life that I did not make or comment on this thread:

https://vsbattles.com/threads/how-many-of-you-guys-believe-in-the-tiering-system.165794/

Anyway, being here is not healthy for me. Seriously, someone on staff, please delete my account.

JUST PLEASE LEAVE THIS THREAD OPEN AND UNLOCKED FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO DISCUSS.

Why it would disqualify Low 1-C Bugs? This only proves that Elmer Fudd also can become Low 1-C through Dimensional Manipulation
