The Revenant Marvel Comics Discussion Thread

Sadistic and arrogant gloating about getting away with completely mischaracterising Spider-Man and Mary Jane to making a deal with Mephisto? 🙏

Most likely thing would be undoing the deal with mephisto
He already confirmed it wouldn't do that.

Also, this might be pushing things a bit, but is something happening in New York? I've seen quite a few posts blaming Marvel's decision to move to LA on something going on in the city, but I can't figure out the details.

When was the last time Spider-Man comics have been consistently good?
Well, Joe Kelly is at least trying currently. He is a good writer by my experience, or at least I liked his old Superman run, especially Action Comics #775. 🙏

I don't know. New York finally has a genuinely well-intended democratic socialist mayor who is trying to help regular people, so maybe amoral corporations are moving out due to increased taxation to finance it? 🙏

Unfortunately yes, given how extremely corruptive his ideology and mindscape are for many of those exposed to them. Regardless, I have gone indepth analytical regarding why I consider him to be gleefully amoral and corruptive scum in old posts that you can find if you search for them, but I only claim to speak for myself. 🙏
Yeah when I meant that you're in the minority I also meant that you're in the minority in seeing Hickman's work that way. In fact you are the only person I have ever seen to believe that his work is amoral or corruptive.

Well, I am also perceptive regarding that kind of thing, as you can see in my old story, and I remember other works than just what he has written for Marvel for a sum total impression. Again, you can use our forum's search function for my more indepth analyses regarding Hickman. 🙏

Based on the article posted above, Steve Wacker is a bit of a mixed bag. When he was senior editor, he oversaw One More Day, Brand New Day and the Superior Spider-Man series, as well as Daredevil, Hawkeye, and Captain Marvel. He also co-created Kamala Khan, did a bunch of animation stuff, and edited for the It's Jeff! comic.
Hm, What Daredevil run? I think I'm familiar with his Hawkeye work, so he did good there. I believe that's more good than bad?

Assuming I'm looking at the Marvel Wiki right, he was involved in the Andy Diggie and Mark Waid runs.
Andy's work is meh, it's held back by the Shadowland saga but it's still a overall good writer, but Mark's run? I'm pretty sure everyone agrees it's one of the character's best runs. If Wacker participated in that, then I'm sure it's a positive change.

Just found that he also participated in Moon Knight 2014 and Hawkeye 2012, two of my favorite runs of both characters.

For those interested, we're doing the final evaluations for Thor's new profile here:

And here is the proposed new profile: https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:NaturalDestroyer/Thor_Odinson_(Marvel_Comics)
The value in the speed section seems to be this calc but I think that calc is probably invalid.
1 - The calc is Jane Foster being dragged by Mjolnir due to the whole mother storm story line, which actually seems like teleportation but whatever, so I'm not sure we can scale that to her.
2 - That's probably Imensurable/infinite feat since it took her to omnipotence city and then Alfheim, Im not sure about where Omnipotence city is but Alfheim should be another realm.
3 - There was no discussion about if that can actually scale to her combat reaction speed. The member who approved the calc accepted the math nothing else.

Hmm, that probably is infinite. I'll find another MFTL+ calc

I was checking this one and the justification doesn't make much sense either.
Morever, its said "galaxies" and not "a couple", which means he crossed a minimum of 3 galaxies.
Why would the plural of galaxies mean 3? The quote from the comic is...
Fast enough to cross entire galaxies in the blink of a god's eye...
This one seems better as Gladiator went to Asgardia I think it was that time when Asgard was near Jupiter, but I think it's gonna need a better justification and or be reduced to 2 galaxies instead of 3.

That'll be especially useful for when I start doing Herald revisions! Thanks for checking that. I replaced the one on Thor's profile

Hmm...I noticed a small error while looking through Loki's page.

This feat is fine but this is modern Loki and not classic, and we currently don't have a modern Loki page. Honestly at this rate I might contribute and help whoever is willing to make the page.I've read a decent chunk of modern Loki appearances but not all of them, I'm still going through them but at a really slow pace since I'm busy 😓

Modern Loki desperately needs a page but it'll be a huge project for any brave soul who does it

Tell me about it, I finished a big omnibus that had a lot of important stories for God of Stories Loki, but there's still a chunk of Loki info for me to go through. Immortal Thor has Loki doing nonsensical stuff like power nulling Thor and the Odin-force. I genuinely think God of Stories Loki might be the most busted magic user in Marvel, especially when we account for the plot manip stuff they got going.💀

GoS Loki is actually cracked. It makes it when more wild when you realize that Utgard-Loki completely negated regular Loki's narrative magic like it was nothing

Yeah that one is actually crazy, I didn't expect Utgard-Loki to start burning Loki's narration boxes like that which was hype. I haven't read Mortal Thor yet but I'm interested in reading it when I get the chance, I've enjoyed what Al Ewing has done to Loki since Agent of Asgard.

If someone shield from a universe erasure, like sersi did in Avengers vol 1 #314. Is that 1B feat? We know all layers of existence would be wiped away remaining only thr white page

No, without further context universe just mean’s marvel’s high 3-a universe

His narrative manipulation is incredibly broken, but it's also especially effective against gods, since they embody stories brought into reality through belief and are thereby intertwined with it, which, you know, is his bread and butter. I do agree with the idea that he's probably the most OP magic user in canon, though. The only person I could maybe see above him is modern Wanda, since she's untethered and unbound by all the laws of magic, and all laws of reality. Otherwise, I don't think anyone else is really competing with him.

How do we feel about Avengers: Armageddon so far? Personally, I feel like Marvel hasn't put out a genuinely great event since Judgment Day. Blood Hunt didn't really do it for me either, although I'd say a lot of its tie-ins were actually pretty enjoyable.

He also actively negged all the ghost riders including Robbie Reyes all rider simultaneously . He didn't use runes or story magic against them too.

As for wanda, while her inherit freedom might make it seem she would be resistant to his story manipulation, you have to remember her patronage scales to the never queen while loki is actively connected to the House of ideas directly, actively called the story teller by Toaa himself. I just feel most writers and most debaters would just place loki above wanda, unless Steve Orlando is writing the book then probably a stalemate.

Also , he has that eternity mask thing.

Blood hunt tie ins like the black panther one were very interesting, one world under doom was mediocre, Avengers Armageddon seems to be closer in quality to blood hunt though
