He could destroy ice with his Ki, but if any part of him gets Frozen (Assuming his entire body doesn’t get Frozen), he is done for soon after.
If Piccolo doesn’t get instantly frozen, he could make distance, and outrange Zane.

Think Krillin could've hurt Zane with Distructo Disc, which scales to 12 KiloQuettatons. Goku was able to break out of ice after getting frozen, so maybe Piccolo could try something similar. Otherwise, he could try avoiding or blocking Zane's ice with ki.

Piccolo can increase his AP with his Size Manipulation, but he wouldn’t use that in this matchup. (And would be more of a detriment for him)

I feel like Piccolo’s regen wouldn’t be useful in this matchup weirdly enough, Zane would just freeze him solid most of the time.
Zane also has a stamina advantage, I could see him just winning in a fight of endurance.
(Piccolo has Zero Resistance to ice, nor has any experience fighting ice users)
Piccolo can create fire with Ki manipulation, so he isn’t completely defenseless against ice.

That's a good wincoin, however I feel like Zane can create ice walls to defend himself against those

It was likely due to AP since he can match Zane in strength and physically hurt him (And his EP scale to his physicals)
