BAN-KAI! Bleach General Discussion

"minimum distance" what you would get would be an even more absurd number for the distance, and that method was already rejected
Why is it absurd? Let‘s be honest everything is infinitely more better than what we have now. And how is it any more absurd than the 50km distance you originally proposed in your downgrade thread?

Why is it absurd?
Idk man, millions of kms for a palace in the sky is kinda absurd ngl, not to mention calling it a "minimum distance"

It isnt actually, at all, the current method is the best and relies on the least inflated/uncertain assumptions

How is it not?

A palace in another dimension being 50 light years away wouldn't be inherently absurd. It sounds like you’re just incredulous at the idea of the palace being a certain distance away.

Optimistic, to say the least.

How is it not?
Maybe because the palace isn't actually in the atmosphere and superhuman characters take hours - weeks to cross it? You realise falling at terminal velocity for ~ 9 hours gets you almost 3,000 km, right?

50 km is a bad joke, at best.

Dont mean "minimum" as in the least distance possible generally. I mean minimum distance when using the Star methode. Ofc you can get all sorts of distances using all sorts of methodes. Plus that Palace is clearly not close to the Atmosphere of the Soul Society. According to the current Distance, its already WAY above the sky and in space so whats the difference between several thousands and millions, when both lead to the same conclusion?

Because you can free fall that distance in 6 minutes. Are you saying that everything that happended between Ichigo going down and landing in the Seireitei took place in just 6 minutes?

We had a whole ahh debate about this in the thread and here as well. And since there have been alot of debates about old topic that were brought up agian and again, i think we should let these things rest, until the crt's are out. Some ppl were planning on doing them anyway sooooooo. Ahh and btw, i dont wanna sound hostile or say that you're downgrading the verse with "bs" things just to have it as low as possible. Please tell me if i come off as rude or anything like that. I feel like that should be said.

It is for me, just like some people treat the originally proposed 100 km (50 km wasnt my idea btw) as inherently wrong

You mean regular objects can fall down within short timeframes from that same palace?
Plus that Palace is clearly not close to the Atmosphere of the Soul Society
Currently it isnt close either, its VERY very far away, idk if yall realize how big 6000km is
And as to what's the difference? The methods, I disagreed with other methods proposed in the thread for reasons stated there

Yeah we did and people still complain about 50km even tho it wasnt accepted, like move on already

Best outcome is if we get any new info from the last cour or if Kubo randomly shares some info (albeit I feel like it is unlikely)

You are fine dw, far better than some people here

I don't really care about people's opinions or incredulity. There's nothing that would make an astronomical distance wrong, at least, nothing that has been brought up.
We know that 50 or 100 km is wrong though, because of what the series shows/tells us.

You mean regular objects can fall down within short timeframes from that same palace?
What regular objects?

Millions of km isn't absurd tho I think it would be more of a high end.
It takes 10 days to walk the serieite which is 1000+ km. The soul palace cites are implied to be much bigger then the serieite and was still dwafted by the auswhlen which could fit in the soul palace. It takes 1 week to travel the soul palace using shunpo. Shunpo even on a low end is faster then sound. We see ichigo, ichibei and yhwach travel a distance further then serieite in seconds multiple times and it still took ichigo 10 hours which puts the distance at 1 million km or further easily. So I can see a small star fitting in the soul palace

assuming it‘s too small for the average Human eye to resolve as a distinct object, i think its safe to use the eyes angular resolution of 1 arcminute.

For a 1500km sized object, it needs to be 5,156,620km away, to be completely invisible.

But you can also get a number, close to 100 million km, if we assume that it illuminates like other celestial objects (like pluto, since its similar in size somewhat).

But thats assuming ordinary planetary reflectivity and good observing conditions.

The manga and the anime give us some clear sky scenes of the palace not being visible from right below it, playing around with ang sizing I got 93600km just for a fraction of the full distance.

The Seireimon walls
Interesting. When were you shown them falling? When were you told they just "freefall" into Seireitei?

, Lille's body,
You mean the body heavily implied to be made of light? The body parts that exerted a significant amount of force on the barriers and Seireitei after landing?

Gerard's body/debris from him
And why do you think Tōshirō's statements mean anything here? Did he mention a timeframe? Does he know how the Reiōkyu even works?

Lille’s body, made of light, falls down actually fast because it is light. Lille’s light dispels shadows and reflects on swords/blinds people, the same way Auswählen rains down fast. It is very fast stuff, just like Yhwach’s attacks, which is actually consistent.

The walls are sent down by S0/Soul Palace and can simply bypass the distance or be very fast. Otherwise, they would not have been there in the Seireitei that fast to begin with. Given that even Tenjiro concedes you need a week of shunpo, any free-fall argument based on speed over a short timeframe is canonically wrong.

Toshiro saying Gerard would fall down and destroy the Seireitei does not mean it would be fast. It is never stated once that it would be fast, and Toshiro has no idea of the distance to begin with; he only knows Gerard is “above.”

So, in the end, if you really read the manga carefully and consider the various statements, such as one week of shunpo or Ichigo taking dozens of chapters to fall down, you end up with the conclusion that the visual distance is basically not physically possible.

You have Shunsui covering kilometres with shunpo in a split second, and Tenjiro still believes it would take a week. Even if you lowball it to things like Byakuya blitzing Renji in over 100 m, using only human FTE reaction standards, over a week you still end up with a crazy distance. It is not even about “calc stacking”; it is just common sense and seeing that the distance is supposed to be enormous, even using human-standard statistics for characters who have been superhuman since chapter 1. And on top of that statements support it.

In the manga
When were you told they just "freefall" into Seireitei?
what implies the opposite? and we do see them fall, we are told they fall
You mean the body heavily implied to be made of light?
made of light isnt the same as light speed
The body parts that exerted a significant amount of force on the barriers and Seireitei after landing?
Yeah cuz they crash from high up? +Lille was still alive through those pieces
And why do you think Tōshirō's statements mean anything here? Did he mention a timeframe? Does he know how the Reiōkyu even works?
He acted as if its an active threat, not something that will happen in like a week or more from now. and yes why not

Gerard's body/debris from him
The hyper knowledge claim of doom and despair from Toshiro.
Lille's body
His body violently explodes, shit could be traveling at the speed of light for all u know.
The Seireimon walls
The walls that we don't know if get shot down and accelerated downwards by another force or are being solely accelerated by Gravity.
He acted as if its an active threat, not something that will happen in like a week or more from now. and yes why not
Based on what is he even reliable? How would he know the distance and timeframe? Sounds like he's just being careful and caring for the safety of the Sereitei, that doesn't insta make him a expert on this topic. Also you realize it's up to you to prove he's reliable and saying "yes why not" is just shifting the burden of proof.
what implies the opposite? and we do see them fall, we are told they fall
Yeah they fall down, but how? Are they just released and get solely accelerated by Gravity when falling or are they being fired down and accelerated by the force of something else? There is 0 evidence contradicting the latter or proving the former.

The problem with your argument is that you're relying on, at best, circumstantial evidence to assert that there are contradictions to the explicit (ish) information we've been given. You reversed the burden of proof despite being the one who made a claim. The unknown variables you haven't considered support my rebuttal.

Let's demonstrate this clearly:

In the manga
Firstly, we do see the gates fall, literally speaking. The point remains that we do not know the mechanics behind this. "We see them drop so they must have free-fell" is just a leap in logic.

Anything that can bypass the 72 barriers can't be assumed to be a "regular" object.

what implies the opposite? and we do see them fall, we are told they fall
You then attempt to reverse the burden of proof. I'm not the one making an assertion here, YOU are. I do not need to prove the opposite; I just need to point out the assumptions you've made in your premises.

made of light isnt the same as light speed
Besides the fact that this doesn't make a lick of sense, you've missed the point. Your claim was that regular objects fall to Seireitei in a short time period - fragemnts of light are not regular objects. Why do you assume they free-fell, when that is clearly not the only possibility here?

Yeah cuz they crash from high up? +Lille was still alive through those pieces
The implication here was that they exerted a lot of force and F=M/A. Again, you assume regular free-fall when that is unambiguous, at best, and outright wrong, at worst.

He acted as if its an active threat, not something that will happen in like a week or more from now. and yes why not
This is only relevant if you assume Tōshirō knows about the Reiōkyu to the extent you want him to, which is unverifiable.

It's literally like how you can go to reverse London trough a Get Smart phone booth or Muken trough an elevator.
