Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

Notice that only the celebrities who turned a new leaf or who have a generally good conduct but made some stupid joke are the ones who get crucified by the public.

The celebrities who are brazenly bigoted and fascists don't get the same treatment.

The "good side" does tend to cannibalize itself with performative outrage, moral purity and grandstanding.

Of course it's not impossible that it's a psyop, astroturfing and bad faith actors poisoning the well.
It's because of the way the internet works nowadays. People feel incentivized to only care about doing things that'll get them likes and validation online, and nothing else. That's why so many people online just talk like robots who are trying to get as much engagement as possible instead of having their own personality, giving unique takes on things, and actually standing up against people who do something horrible.
This has been a pretty common thing on sites like reddit for years, which is why the biggest stereotype for a redditor is a fat, sweaty, unkempt middle aged man who talks like he's a pretentious weeb that thinks Evangelion is the deepest thing in history. They talk in such a smarmy and cartoonish way to get upvotes from fellow bums who also talk like a MCU character.
Anyway, went on a tangent there, but I say this because the same is happening with Twitter (and other sites like Tiktok, but mostly Twitter) in a way. With Elon pushing things like blue checkmarks on the userbase so much, and him also just randomly shadowbanning whoever he feels like shadowbanning, a lot more people have started tweeting like rent is due.

Life's a lot easier when you don't treat celebrities as your friends and assume they're all part of the same newborn-eating Moloch-worshipping circle.
Only assume that for those high in the industry. Also assume that it's either that or another variation of Diddy parties

Users promoting generative AI content unironically would probably warrant a 2 year ban. They can reduce their ban time by reading slop fiction (like Tokyo Revengers), they'll suffer but it will be therapy from AI brainrot.
Wondering if machines will ever truly outperform us in any and all aspects of life welp.

To be fair, sadly, a lot of the immoral and amoral parts of society are starting to attain a lot more power (look at right-wing conservative authoritarian governments, organised crime, etc), and we are stripped of the power to do anything against them (look at the UN and other international/global organisations when having to deal with crises caused by illegal activity, etc).
We can call them out at least, but then there's people who profit off of and gain power from (and band together to further profit and gain power from) committing immoral/amoral/unethical and illegal stuff to the point where it's nigh-impossible to truly counter them fully by ourselves unless banding together (look at hackers, cheaters, exploiters, scammers, fraudsters, etc).

I wonder at times whether it's only possible to stop them by unfortunately having to descend/stoop to their level.

Well, since we started talking about intelligence, I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring. We shouldn't blame, hate and discriminate people for being "dumb", since A LOT of factors in our life isn't even our fault, you physically can't just choose to have better intelligence from the get go, especially if you were growing in extremely unhealthy environment (parents could be an alcoholics, someone could be malnourished from early childhood, someone could hit their head too many times/got physically injured, someone were born with disabilities and many other limiting factors and etc). I just see hating someone for their lack of intelligence and struggles absolutely inhumane, since once again, it could be not even their fault, but society suddenly decides to mock, dehumanize, hate, blame, mentally torment and do or say many more atrocious things about them just because they are unlucky with that specific trait/flaw. Not to mention when you're bragging about you being much smarter than someone else - you're effectively just glazing your genetic lottery and environment, since you most likely have much less impairing/limiting factors, than the person you're comparing yourself to

Also I want to point out some more things: dumb/stupid ≠ jerk/bad person. Anyone could be an asshole, anyone could be a wholesome person (I hope so), but intelligence shouldn't be a justification for our narcissism, xenophobia, hatred and discrimination

I agree that harassing them is bad, harassing anyone is bad, but the issue is that dumb people often don't realize they're dumb people. The dumb people you'll mostly encounter aren't innocent people trying to get by with disabilities and trauma, it's loud assholes who think they're better than everyone. No decent human being would have an issue with stupid people if the stupid people didn't believe that everyone except for them is stupid and thus make fun of them.

its situational, your behavior could vary depending on your environment, for example lets say its suddenly really hot, you are hungry and then you see something that would mildly annoy you normally but because of the setting you end up flaring up.

My point was mostly about that stupidity shouldn't be a first thing you default to, in whatever situation you're in (even if they are assholes). Intellectual superiority shouldn't be used as a tool for harassment, reciprocal hatred, argument and etc for reasons I already mentioned. For me it's immoral nearly as using slurs against minorities, only because you faced some assholes in that community, racism is never justifiable. So I think intellectual discrimination also should go, or at least not being normalized/used that often

Also, if we actually stop normalizing that - those assholes also would be affected by that, since they're also try to discriminate people by their intelligence, but they lack self awareness. Imo it would benefit everyone, since those people also would be seen as immoral

Sir, most of your scans are gone!

Hey now, don't insult CGMs! Just have like 3 in your back pocket to call on!
I'd be a lot happier if I could just put the calc in the calc thread and know it'll get evaluated within a day rather than go around profiles hopelessly trying to get evaluations, profiles having some "DO NOT DM, DO NOT MESSAGE" like brother you haven't evluated a calc in approximately 2 years why are you even a mod at this point

I really appreciate and respect the work done by CGMs (shoutouts to Dalesean, M3X, Psychomaster, and Bambu btw), but holy shit, it can take A WHILE just to get an eval when it really shouldn't take any longer than a week
This isn't about respect anymore this is about there being 20 people who sometimes do calcs sent to their walls and only if they feel like it and basically never check any calcs on the evaluation thread. I genuienly don't understand what some of these people even do. I really like ExecutorN0 for his work on Pokemon and Digimon but I don't remember seeing him evaluate a single calc. What's he doing there?

If at least 10 calc mods of the ones we have did like 1 evaluation a day we'd clear the backlog pretty soon. Heck, if they did 2 a day we'd be done very fast. Instead, we've pages upon pages, bumps that have been done 6 times already. It's honestly weird, they accepted the mod responsibility. Even doing the minimum would already contribute to the wiki but instead we've got below minimum.

its even funnier considering that this is not a isolated case of "couple mods", but somehow a pandemic that afflicts every blue name the moment they become calcys.
