The Boys discussion thread

Holding out hope that the last three episodes will give us some good feats for Homelander or Soldier Boy. I'm not even asking for upgrades, just something that actually displays their destructive capabilities and superiority compared to other supes. God this show pisses me off. You'd think the whole cast is street tier with how they portray fights. It cannot be that hard to choreograph decent fight scenes, I've done better my senior year of highschool with a budget of 20$. And for the love of god show some destruction, its horrible watching Homelander and Soldier boy slam people full force into walls and barely scratch the paint. A broken wall or two would go a long way in fighting the fraud allegations. Homelander as is feels like a bulletproof Captain America when the show tries to gas him up as this national level threat. Make it make sense.

I disagree here. The Boys has a budget of like 8-12 million per episode. Smallville 20 year ago was able to give Superman insane visuals like this and this, The Boys really doesn't have an excuse to not give Homelander at least one baller showing.
In all fairness all of the CGI in Smallville looks like absolute ass.
(I still love it though. **** Kent. ❤️)

That dog dream scene pissed the shit out of me. That was too far and utterly disgusting. It’s not needed, like we get it if you want to be a little corny but nah man, no.

Mister Marathon’s speed is weird. He was def at least subsonic. Someone argued he should be transonic to supersonic since it’s implied he was nearly as fast as A-Train, and could’ve beaten him in another race. But that’s shaky evidence imo, but worthy of a “possibly” rating

As for Soldier Boy scaling in combat speed? Not entirely sure. Mister Marathon’s speed was shown so strangely. Him running through people several times because Soldier Boy put them in the way feels so strange

When will they start making Homelander threatening again?

I AM SO TIRED OF THIS BS?? A RANDOM AHH BREATH KNOCKS HIM OUT? FOR SEVERAL MINUTES? WHAT?? OH OKAY, SURE. ALL Butcher needed for these past seasons is THIS random Supe and Soldier Boy. Then he would have died? THATS IT?

WHY CANT HE HAVE A COOL MOMENT. HE IS THE MAIN VILLAIN? WRITERS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

His LAST show of strength was S3 Herogasm where he beat Butcher and Soldier Boy alone, then OH THE RADIATION PUTS HIM IN A TIMEOUT!! OH THIS GUY BREATHS AND KNOCKS HIM OUT FOR SO LONG!! “We tested every weapon” my ass
Keep in mind that his comic counterpart is a Metamorpho knockoff, and more people than ever before know what he can do to Superman.

Regarding Homelander no longer being threatening, I think real life influenced that somewhat. There were many people in real life using Homelander as a political icon, agreeing with the character, to the point that Antony Starr himself spoke about it. This probably affected the character, since now they are ridiculing him as much as possible so that he is no longer this "badass icon".

Is that ep canon?
To the comics verse.

SB shouldn't scale at all. He only nailed hits when Marathon wasn't running, and his punches weren't portrayed as fast during combat. And maybe because he was high, but Marathon did the S1E1 A-Train thing of running to people because he failed to stop.

Only noteworthy thing that happened is that Ashley should get Multiple Selves types 1 and 3(?

That's a ridiculous reason to sabotage your story. It's like what the Joker did.

I don't care. They did nothing to set up how strong it is, so I'm taking it at face value.

And, even if it was some ridiculously strong breath, Homelander is supposed to be THAT guy. A super that could even kill Soldier Boy.

The fact that someone can just breath in his face and incapacitate him takes away from the narrative that the story has been building around Homelander.

It's stupid.
Being the strongest doesn't mean you're a brick wall against every type of energy/hax. This is like saying Goku should be able to breathe in space because he can destroy space-time, or that Superman should be immune to magic because a magic user is only human level AP.

This logic is basically saying that Homelander should be resistant to every power/ability.

He literally reacted to Marathon running at him and blocked him

By the way, Sage believes the Supe World War would cause global destruction once the Supes realized the virus was man-made. Given how she's been correct through her analytical prediction, this means that Supes (while having to worry about a lethal virus) > world militaries, per her words.

It's treated as a thing where both sides will die. Mutual destruction.

well he is resistant to the gas since it cant even kill him

Yes, but the Supes would win from having the raw power advantage; being able to dismantle infrastructure, communication, leadership, power grids, internet, etc.

Humans releasing the virus means the Supes die regardless of human civilization being leveled. The ability to level a city isn't preventing that virus from eating their bodies out.

Homelander got ****** by some basic ass uranium, his ass literally cannot be above all of the weapons or world militaries by virtue of them possessing nuclear and radiation based weapons. Could he potentially work around those? Maybe, but evidently if he got hit by one he is absolutely dying.

Precisely, but that's assuming it'd be a Death Battle style environment where two sides are just trading hits. This also needs to account for the political environment.

Nothing is stopping Homelander from flying to DC and murdering Congress, the President, Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon, etc in basically 10-20 minutes.

He'd also be smart enough to chill in areas like New York City, LA, Chicago, or Washington DC to force a stalemate. If the military chooses to sacrifice millions to kill one Supe it'd cause civil unrest.

But Godolkin also said supes would definitely lose the war against humans. He also knew supes very well

There's always hope of getting that for Soldier Boy with Vought Rising, but if it happens there will be some dumb people who will claim that Soldier Boy > Homelander via having better on-screen feats (or that the Vought Rising SB > The Boys SB).

Yeah. There's no way just millions of Supes can win if they have to deal with a virus AND billions of human beings.

Sister Sage's plan is incredibly stupid though. She is forgetting the tiny detail that the virus will kill her too. And sure she may try to hide in a bunker, but since her plan is also to pit humanity against supes, all it takes is a well equipped squad to infiltrate her bunker and put a few bullets in her.

Even if by some miracle she survives all that, she would still not accomplish her goal. Humanity comes out on top, they will flay her alive for being a surviving supe. Supes win (not possible but still) they will gut her for betraying supes and helping the virus spread. So either way she dies.

Not if she can hide the fact that she's a Supes or a traitor who helped spread the virus.
