Tbh, it was a dumb joke based on the Zoro minority hunter slander meme. But also, there wasn't enough context for anyone to get the joke lmao. This is why I usually don't post in early mornings.

Though seriously, I am kinda glad Brook isn't Gunko's dad. 99% of parents in One Piece are either bad parents, dead or absent lol. I think the best [currently living] dad in One Piece is Gaban, who now my favorite member of the Roger Pirates crew. In addition to being one of the adoptive parental figures to Shanks & Buggy, he is also great dad to his half giant son. Some of my favorite emotional moments from the recent chapters were Shanks and Gaban interacting including after Harald's death.

I get why he never had a chance to interact, but ironically Roger raised Shanks more than he did with Ace. I find it funny that of the Roger Pirates are/were parents/had a parental role all of them seem to have been great. Even though Rayleigh doesn't have his own kids, his interactions with Shanks & Buggy are sweet. He was still keeping tabs on Buggy after Roger's death. It was also nice seeing Boa and Rayleigh's relationship.

I just read the translation for chapter 1173 Brook came in clutch. He’s one of the consistently goofy straw hats, but when it’s time for him to get serious, he has great moments like in Whole Cake Island. He was the one of the first Straw Hats to fight a Yonko [probably the first you only consider active Yonko].

Also, since Brook says Gunko should be around 80, I’m wondering how long he was a pirate for, he’s 90 rn. She would’ve been somewhere in her twenties when he died. I’m wondering if the Holy Knights had something to do with his first death.
 
It seems like Loki is much stronger than even (current) Gear 5 Luffy then, and Luffy is quite weak in base (without using his gears) compared to the top tier pure haki users, so he has a lot of growing to do if he wants to catch up with Joyboy.

By the way, which character do you think is the new incarnation of Davy Jones, who Imu fears just as much as Joyboy, and what was up with the shinigami that Zoro briefly seemed to encounter when near death during the Wano storyarc? 🙏

Probably Blackbeard. The scene of Imu holding the photos of Vivi, Shirahoshi, Luffy, & Blackbeard, makes more sense now. Shirahoshi is Poseidon, Luffy is Joyboy, and Blackbeard is probably the new Davy Jones incarnation.

Also, the scene also foreshadows Imu's obsessed with Lily & by extension Vivi. She is the only one who doesn’t have a sliced up photo, which confused me when it first came out, since he also sliced Shirahoshi's photo.

I’m not sure about the skeleton/Shinigami thing. After Wano I thought it was either something caused by a near death experience or the embodiment of Enma [the sword is named after the Japanese King of Hell].

I’m waiting to see if Loki's df dragon for. Is winged or not before I’m more certain. Interestingly, both Jormungandr and Niddhogg have appeared as Sleep Monsters so far, so we have an idea of their designs. Either could be red herring though, bc Oda used a combo of "IRL mythic beings" like draugr alongside Fake Nika.
 
Well, given Brook's experiences, there seems to exist an afterlife in the One Piece world, so maybe Zoro was so close to death that he had to fight off or make a deal with one of its border guardians? 🙏

Maybe. But besides Imu Abyss stuff, we haven’t gotten many supernatural things that aren’t a devil fruit or Haki. You’d think Oda would draw more attention to it if that were the case but idk.

I’m not a big Japanese speaker, but apparently Oda has a lot of references that I wouldn’t have otherwise gotten within Imu's name. Assuming he is the Nerona Imu of the founding twenty the characters from his personal Imu name forms the characters for "Buddha" [仏] and his family name for [神] "God".

If Loki has the Niddhogg fruit and it turns out Imu has a df Jormungandr also fits him. Especially with the celestial dragons and Rocks describing him as the World itself.
 
It’s becoming increasingly clear that feats will be the only way to accurately scale from here on.

Kaido is about to get power cliffed hard by a fellow creature. So much for all his “strongest creature” portrayal.
 
I love how we say this b4 a character gets any feats

People thought the same thing for the gorosei and now we have moon level brook franky nami and jinbe

we kinda have... Devil fruits are able to confirm the afterlife or the underworld... Brook is able, through his devil fruit, to access the already existing underworld and use its effects on the living

And then we have Lao G, whose soul was slowly going up to heaven... But currently right now, the underworld has been confirmed to be a thing and a thing that has affected the current Op world

We should at least wait until the chapter is fully released including translations out before we try to argue about character strength from it. The chapter title and Loki being enormous doesn’t tell us anything by itself. I still remember in Wano when the announced Kaido won, and then edited himself, to say Luffy won. Could just be a hype moment where Loki does his dragon transformation and calls himself the strongest or smth.

I explained it kinda poorly lol, I meant there are few mostly supernatural characters that aren’t also a devil fruit or haki thing as well. That’s why I mentioned Imu's Abyss because it’s a rare power that isn't tied to either. Hawkins has his magic tarot cards. There's a difference between mentioning the underworld and introducing a Shinigami that Zoro has already defeated [if it is legit from the underworld] which hasn’t been mentioned since.

I’m not saying we should scale Loki above Kaido based on the most recent chapter solely but it is becoming clear Loki will be stronger than Kaido and we will need to seriously look at how we scale One Piece going forward as statements are becoming more and more unreliable.
 
Half the verse scales above Kaidou right now so it doesn't even matter
