Hytale General Discussion

started a part 2
with dashing we actually get 13.79m/s so as things stand right now until I can get some kind of arrow or gun blocking figured out we're looking at these speed ratings

Average Human movement speed (Can run at 5.5 m/s normally, and up to 7 m/s while sprinting and jumping), Superhuman movement speed while dashing (Can dash in burst at speeds of 13.79m/s), Superhuman combat speeds and reactions, Subsonic attack speed with Bow and Crossbow, Supersonic with firearms

Ok, so here’s the thing, I did some rough calculations and found that the blunderbuss in game has a muzzle velocity of about 61.5385 m/s. In real life, a blunderbuss has a rather slow muzzle velocity, with the middle area, seemingly being around 600 fps (182.88 m/s)

Assuming cinematic timing it would be a difference of 2.97179814263 times, comparing that to the rest of the in game speeds of various things would look like this.

Dashing speed would go up to: 40.984 m/s (Subsonic)

Magic fireball speed would go up to: 79.868 m/s (Subsonic)

Arrow speed would go up to: 257.302 m/s (Subsonic+)

Avatar movement speed would go up to: 16.3448897845 m/s (Superhuman)

Idk about upscaling everything from this, its kinda case by case on games with this kinda thing, like take the movement speed for example it explicitly tells you how fast the movement speed is in game so like its kinda fraud to upscale it off that because of the in game blunderbuss speed. Imo there needs to be something more concrete to extrapolate this onto everything else rather than just doing calc ends with the irl speed when it comes to like blocking them or something. Another example would be the bow 257m/s is so far above the 86.5m/s arrow speed I got.which is actually consistent to irl bows that fire at speed between 68m/s ~ 100m/s with the fastest irl bows being about 150m/s

Thats not to say I'm completely against this all either but it'd be different if the Hytale team did like some canon cinematics or machinina stuff where they are going crazy with movement and speed then I'd for sure be but atp we could just calc that stuff

That all said good work regardless

F7 menu says your movement speed if you press it twice
Mmm, maybe. personally, I’m not sure if you can claim hard overriding canon from a debug menu stat, I feel like you need to pull from an in game character sheet that downright says it or a dev statement. But either way, I can see why you’d find this method sketchy.

I think I now might have something that is probably better anyway. But let me work on that.

Btw since we actually have the summons who use the Blunderbuss in the game its safe to use that for some speed calcs as well for blocking them

valid, do you know what ammo it uses btw?
At the moment it doesn’t use any specific ammo type, instead you have to have mana to fire it, which at the moment seems like you can only obtain by wearing that other armor that is on the same tier as Mithril but I can’t remember the name of.😭
