Street Fighter 6 General Discussion Thread

Honestly it come to whether this leaker is reliable or not, do they have a good record? If so then this leak might be 95% real but still
Well season 3 line up was predicted 100%, Terry and Mai were hinted at, Bison and Elena in another instance turned out true

Hence I said some truth to it may be there, but till Capcom reveals, we dont know how much turns true

Oh, so the previous leaks was by the same guy who leaked this one, noted

Yeah, best is just wait until the reveal

Could someone how Gen is supposed to be hyped up as this high tier of the verse, and yet Ryu is able to defeat him in Street Fighter 1987?

Well, Gen simply wasn't supposed to be a powerful master at the time and SF1 is never mentioned nor expanded upon, except for the battle between Sagat and Ryu.

It could be viewed as Gen being simply satisfiyed by Ryu's (or Ken's) performance, or he gave out due to boredom, pretty much any excuse falls within the realm of possibilities.

An arcade run of a character in a fighting game without any lore saying he fought said characters or any lore to it to begin with is no proof, even if Ryu fought him, Gen has far more indication being an Akuma level character, where as Ryu isnt and just in SF6 he gets to a level Akuma considers him more comparable

The winscreen for when Gen is defeated does show his face beaten up and the win sentence of "What Strength!! But don't forget there are many guys like you all over the world"

As for lore, the Street Fighter pamphlet says (according to Deepl), "Less a martial artist than an assassin. Primarily employs Chinese martial arts learned since childhood in combat, while also developing his own unique fighting style. With his right eye gouged out, defeating him requires considerable skill."

Although, it really needs to be asked if Street Fighter 1987 is canon or not.

And you have like how many other showings Gen > Ryu, you dont even know canonically if Ryu fought him and they did those should have been pointed out by the games where both were in in dialogues

Show the scan in question and not just the words, cuz I never seen for SF1 anything at all

Also what kind of question is even that, Sagat scar is from their battle in the first game and the reason Bison took interest in Ryu too, SF5 even had art for endings in SF1 in their gallery

It's all in Japanese, just so you're aware

Ok the auto translation on Gen section checks out, still how it that precisely proving anything against Gen? Also even with the win quote to Ryu, again Gen has far better showings overall against characters Ryu cant beat in the series till much later, why are we using one fight from start of the series as reason to downplay Gen? That would also in turn affect Akuma, which Ryu holds no candle to

How is that a contradiction when Gen is portrayed as a rival to Akuma and whom iirc beat him in alpha 2 and the 30th anniversary bio says as much too

You base it too much on a game where only Ryu and Ken were playable and with barely much lore to it, Ryu has no indication he fought Gen in canon and makes no sense with the established powerscaling

Then how come Street Fighter 1987 is considered canon, and Ryu did fight Gen in it?
Are you for real? Because Sagat and Ryu, the final battle happened canonically and is the reason former got a scar on his chest and is documented in the anniversary bio, meanwhile Ryu vs Gen isnt

To keep it easy and simple, the first SF has been retconned over and over (see Birdie being white-skinned) and nowadays its place in the canon is that of a fuzzy, ill-defined tournament whose only notable event is Ryu fighting Sagat, the rest doesn't hold any relevant weight.

I'm going through all the new material released for C. Viper and I must say her world tour story may be one, if not the best so far. It provides a lot of insight on the series lore while also balancing with Viper's personality and story, unveiling so much and making her so sympathetic.
The devs have really made up for her near-absence in SFV, I hope she is here to stay.

So uh, how about that ending to Alex's arcade mode huh? No spoilers for anyone not done it yet but the moment I saw it I knew it was gonna be a lil' controversial

Him fighting Ryu and then telling Patricia that he's won?

At least it shut down the dumb trend of him being into males, which everywhere you look at they spam it like the MHA fandom on their characters the same

Imma be honest, so far I had Mandela effect'ed myself into thinking Patricia was his sister and I was sooooo lost at first

Google says second cousins isnt considered incest generally and is allowed apparently in plenty of countries, although why would you have her be his wife and have a kid with of all people

"Thank god he ****** his adopted sister/cousin that he's known since she was baby. He could've been something bad, like being into men"
I didnt support that narrative for your info and anyone else, I still stated earlier why would you go with that of all things, but I was also getting fed up on twitter, discord and so on of the same narrative by people too they were inserting on him out of nowhere
