The Revenant Marvel Comics Discussion Thread

Realistically, that PF should be scaled only to Full Phoenix Cyclops I think 🤔

Unless we can figure out a way for Tony to whip out 1-A tech.

He already has 1-A tech, even if the Tier isn't accurate, he's capable fo creating tech on the same level as Skyfathers, just that the M70 isn't one of them, at least not by normal standards.
But as the other user said, this was a Phoenix User, so I think an "at least 5-B" raging should be easy enough.

I'm currently recollecting some feats and scaling for the M70, it being Tier 7 is a nonsense. As of now, it's an at least Tier 5, and has some higher level feats that I'd like to discuss in the Thread, but by mere statements, it's above some of Stark's previous armors.

Later on I'm going to do a thread upgrading essentially every Iron Man armor to Tier 5 as well. What are some of the higher feats you've found?

That one with the Phoenix, him blowing a home through Último and crashing his head with a punch, defeating the Destroyer Armor, keeping up with Danvers in a race, defeating Galactus' ships defenses, defeating Terrax, battling a possessed Captain Marvel, etc.

And I'm sure there should be a way to determine the value of destryoukg the vibranium and Adamtium sphere..

How powerful could someone amped by the Space Stone be?
It depends on the user, as not everyone is capable of drawing out the Stones' full power and this is made explicit in a number of stories, where characters such as the Elders or the Hood have very limited knowledge and skill, while those such as Thanos and Adam Warlock have the expertise required to use them at their fullest.

Iron Man in his Model 2 Armor sort of holds his own against Hulk. (Hulk Smash Avengers 2012)

And less than that? For context, Stark fought a dude called Quantum, who after the events of Infinity Wars, had the stone in this chest.

We gotta find out how strong exactly is this particular Hulk, cuz Hulk can get owned by some H8-C folks like Jack Russell.

Maybe he should have a H8-C key too, just saying...
It makes sense.
He's even more variable than Thor, since he can go from losing to Venom to stomping all the Avengers, so it'd make sense to add such as consistent concept.

Read as “the Elders of the Hood”. Was mildly interested.

I am planning a revision to upgrade every Iron Man armor from Model 2 onward to 5-B (or whatever the new tier will be).

  • In Avengers #9, Iron Man fights against Wonder Man and thinks he can take him by himself
  • In Avengers Annual #1, Thor says that Iron Man is one of the mightiest mortals of all
  • In Defender #9, Hawkeye says that Iron Man is the 2nd strongest Avenger (making him stronger than Giant Man and Vision)
  • In Giant-Size Avengers #2, Kang says "even the weakest of the three [Vision, Iron Man, Thor] will prove stronger than any opposition Earth may mount, eh, Vision?" This implies Kang believes Iron Man, Vision, and Thor to each be among the strongest superhumans on Earth
  • Again in Giant-Size Avengers #2, Kang outrights says that Iron Man is far stronger than Vision. While we have Vision as "Unknown" right now for some reason, he is bare minimum 5-B.
  • In Avengers #130, the narrator says that Thor and Iron Man are two of the strongest beings the world has ever seen
  • In Avengers #132, Iron Man could fight Wonder Man, but since Wonder Man was undead he couldn't incapacitate him
  • In Avengers #138, Thor says that Iron Man is the second strongest Avenger
  • In Avengers #145, Iron Man is again stated to be the second strongest Avenger
This is what I have so far, but I will take more notes as I read through all the mainline Avengers books. So far, I think its fairly clear that Iron Man is consistently shown to be a high tier. He pretty explicitly scales above Giant Man and Vision, and should scale to Wonder Man. Thoughts?

Read more than mainline Avengers book. This is the same line of reasoning that gets tier 4 hypergenius base Batman off of Justice League issues.

Also Wonder Man, Giant-Man and Visions's files are dogshit (Hell Vision is literally left unknown), and Marvel's cross-scaling in 60s is outdated by anything that came afterwards.

Rest we'll see on the thread. Tone here is conversational so I'm talking conversationally

Yeah, I'm probably going to do an Iron Man read-through next. What issues do you have with Wonder Man and Giant-Man's profiles (The issues with Vision's are extremely obvious). I should also mention I'm taking notes on most characters while doing this read-through, including Wonder Man, Giant-Man, and Vision.

Note and acknowledge the context behind the two series as well. We usually give priority to the showcase of solo series over Avengers/Events/Other Crossover runs because unless you're someone like Vision or Scarlet Witch, where your biggest stories might be Avengers stories, most writers pull from the solo run. The most prominent Iron Man stories until Civil War were solo stories.

Wonder Man has a variability mechanic and holdback, all unrepresented. Very prominent one too.
and Giant-Man's profiles
I've done files for Stature, O'Grady, Goliath, Yellowjacket and Scott Lang, all exhausted.

Pym particle-based size manip is extremely variable (I have a blog about Pym axes which also goes very slightly into issues with the Vision and Wonder Man alongside Pym users too) and usually gets to 8-C/High 8-C+ range: The max is like, Cosmic Cube territory (This got downplayed by some dude who did the 3-C jank on the file iirc). Getting a tier off Giant-Man is a poor proposition.

Depending on the results of the 5-B thread too, the proposal might change drastically

Like this isn't a surprise when I say this: we have more dogshit unusable files than we have good files.

So whenever I see an A-Lister's upgrade revision where 90% of the arguments are entirely based on scaling, sorry to say this but we straight up don't have the research work to justify this proposal.

I have kept saying we should've made a template for pages that are WIP or under-researched to display, and note when the page was last updated.

But that requires wiki higher ups to acknowledge the wiki is made by humans and not unemployed research droids, so I've only gotten flack behind the scenes for it lol.

I think that we have an {{Outdated}} template, or is that not what you have in mind? 🙏

And what happens when the scaling chain is in the solo book too?

As I've been posting, the model 70 has a lot of scaling from other dudes and materials (breaking an 30% Adamantium and 20% vibranium + 70% iron alloy sphere), stomping an Ultimo, fighting Galactus' sentinels,
I have a blog about Pym axes which also goes very slightly into issues with the Vision and Wonder Man alongside Pym users too
Really? Could you send it, please?

So, it turns out that I am a bit of a doofus, and wrote in the wrong thread. Don’t text on the mobile, kids.

Anyways:

Speaking of, which Marvel’s newest comics do you guys read currently?

I think Fantastic Four run is… well… fantastic. And Doctor Strange’s first issue looks promising as well.

Well, as I said in the other thread, I skim through different comicbooks, but really only like Thor among the ones currently published my Marvel Comics. Most of them seem really gratuitiously morbid, depraved, dark, amoral, and unenjoyable to me, the X-Men comicbooks in particular. 🙏

I'm up to date with the current volume of Spider-Man
it could be better, but it's not a bad read

I wouldn't call it new specifically, but I've been reading a lot of Cosmic Ghost Rider comics to the point I actually bought them physically because of how much I enjoy the character and the writing. I know not everyone is a Donny Cates, and I fully understand where the criticism comes from, but I personally enjoy Cosmic Ghost Rider because the character embodies the bombastic insanity and absurdity of comics as a genre (in a good way, in my opinion) whilst simultaneously having genuinely serious moments that help give him nuance and a chance to develop.

Though I will say: Duel Identity was terrible, and I'd rather stick with any Cosmic Ghost Rider comic before 2023.

If that counts, I've also read volume 3 of Superior Spider-Man and Astonishing Spider-Man Infinity Comic... I didn't like either of them.
