Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

No wonder Z-A looked so bad, they were dividing their work force to make Day 1 paid DLC.

All of these Megas look like shit. It doesn't look like they belong in Kalos at all. Even the Kalos starters are locked behind Switch Online.

Yeah, easy skip for me. It's very blatant that there's just no content besides trying to wow you with Megas that don't look good anyway.

Pokemon: Pokopia looks amazing, however. Dittos kinda triggers a fear reaction in me from Smosh's "THE DITTO" which I unfortunately saw when I was too young to get what it was parodying, and ever since I've been scared by humans with Ditto faces, but this was an amazing first look, and it seems like this Ditto is going to work like the Super Skrull from Marvel, which I'm all for.

That is a deeply frustrating thing.

They literally won't let us use those Megas in Gen 9. So it's gonna be like Pokemon Legends: Arceus where we have to wait for Generation 10 to send the Megas to that to find out that?
If they even let them Mega Evolve at all in Generation 10....

Pokemon's only good for the side games nowadays.

ah yes, because AZ had a plan for the side effects the superweapon powered by the lives of thousands he made from the thing he revived his pet with to give every Pokemon with a mega a baguette. Diddly darn it how could they forget the lore.

The Ultimate Weapon's energy "growing out of control" and mutating into the new Megas and that's why they look like shit would be a very interesting plot point. Unfortunately this isn't what happened.

New Megas look super good actually. Shame about everything else from Z-A LMAO.

Ditto side game looks cool, the spin offs have always been the more interesting part of the series to me given the mainline games were COD before COD was even a thing. You've played one you've played them all, spin offs got that nice variety and Pokopia seems like a lot of fine. Got Dragon Quest Builder vibes and I love how goofy the Dittos human form looks.

For some mind-bogglingly stupid reason, you can choose between boy and girl in Pokopia, despite seeing a female trainer. I'm honestly not interested in the game anymore other than what this Ditto's profile is going to look like. And even then it's not coming out until next year.

I figured the new stones would have just been deeper underground but yeah I think that concept is more interesting than most of what we know so far. We don't even know how the big Z connects to anything. I still want to be optimistic even if I get the desire not to deal with what in several ways seems like a disappointment.

Wait, Pokopia is only for the Switch 2???

GODDAMNIT
Huh, I thought I was the only one on this forum who couldn't afford a Switch 2.

Honestly, not really feeling that much Z-A so far. There are cool things and all, but I dunno. Guess I'll wait a bit to see what comes out of it. Given that there was a larger window between this and SV at least I hope the games isn't utterly bugged and actually polished, because honestly the game doesn't look that different from the previous release, the presentation and art direction has the same issues, the scale is smaller and the gameplay doesn't seem to have such drastic differences. I dunno.

Also, where's Mega Flygon, Game Freak you cowards?!

The absolute state of 2025 Pokemon:

The good news is that 2025 ends in about 3 & a half months from now.

Maybe if Generation 10 gets revealed for Pokemon Day, that'll be good.

Also, with Hoopa's "Lumiose Hyperspace" (That's what the portals are called or where they lead to, IIRC.) & the hinting about Mega Diancie & expectations of Mega Zygarde & Eternal Flower Floette there could be some interesting changes for Pokemon powerscaling on the horizon.

Sometimes I wonder if people enjoy being treated badly? Because the way TPC have gone about ZA is peak greed (again) and they only get away with it because it's got "Pokémon" written on it and as the biggest entertainment media in the world, millions will consume whatever TPC/Nintendo gives them... for an unreasonable price ofc. Like if the DLC was literally a $30 pile of shit, I know for a fact at least thousands of people would still blindly buy it, actual real life brainwashing tbh.

Like how do they expect children to raise a decent team and rank up in competitive limited-time seasonal events to "earn" the mega stones for the Kalos starters with the inevitable sweats, smurfs and stalls it'll attract? (on top of charging them to use their own WiFi because Nintendo Online).

And don't get me started on the patents.

I don't really follow Pokémon on the wiki anymore but I really do feel sorry for the supporters. It's honestly impressive yet frustrating that Nintendo is a company that can repeatedly shoot itself in the foot and never face lasting consequences (or any notable consequences in general) and Pokèmon is pretty much the "too big to fail" golden goose, with many customers who can no longer taste the difference between a gold egg or bird shit.

Pardon my rant, had to get that off my chest after seeing grown adults all over social media defending a multi billion dollar company exploiting kids (wtf!?).

I personally have been holding on to a one week coupon for nintendo online I got with Mario Party. That said I been trying to avoid supporting Nintendo due to stuff like the patents. I only broke for silksong because I wanted to play on controller and buy gold in pocket because I am trying to stay below a threshold and forgot to check Nintendo is involved.

It makes me very sad that nobody VS debates using Pokemon at all anymore. Pokemon went from Nintendo’s most VS debated verse to being less popular than ******* Fire Emblem. I can only blame myself for letting the verse slip through my grasp.

Most of the problem is Almost certainly because to touch this verse you need to set aside two months to just watch and read Pokémon shit!

The crappy part is that Pokemon has been like this for generations now. For a good while, everything in Pokemon games feels just so half-baked and you keep getting excuses from Nintendo of why certain features were removed usually placing it on the players. While most companies get drunk with success and immediately start trying to screw over customers for profit, Nintendo is particularly bad with it, the entire Switch 2 generation feels like a gospel of that with one scummy move after another. The thing is they know the power of their brands, people may complain about bad games, bad anime, horrible scalped card game and whatnot, but they still love Pokemon itself and many will keep coming back in hopes of reliving something with the franchise, so Nintendo sees no reason to improve and more all the reasons to ensnare the fanbase with scumbag practices.

I mean, this freaking thing being back is one thing, but being back like this?

Doesn’t Hyper Beam use vaporization? He vaporized a huge part of the mountain, I think a proper calc needs to be made
Could be pulv but Hyper Beam is a vaporizing attack.
Still, could be good. That's a 500m diameter, probably around 1200-1800m deep cylinder of mainly rock getting pulverized at the very least.
