Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

Do you know how much easier everything would be if I could do everything? I don't even mind that nobody is helping, I just want to be allowed to just fix the Pokemon verse outright. As a guy that Pokemon VS Digimon's release was literally the worst day of my life, I'm actually trying to help everyone before something like that happens again.

The only time you should be telling me what to do is when you give me another profile that needs to be made.
Bruh I am not the one coping on main about a 10 year old Death Battle.

This your GOAT bro?

There is a lot of your stuff I think would be good to have implemented, but.... Well, I'm a non-staff member, which often makes me feel I can't do much.
You can actually do a lot. Simply agreeing with CRTs helps convince the mods to do the same. Besides, the more profiles we have, the better. We can always use more profiles.

Questionable scaling or issues with the lore is something you have to expect whenever you watch or read someone else's take on powerscaling. At some point you just have to accept and just say "I disagree" and move on. Death Battle is no exception, the sole difference is they have a budget.
I wouldn't even take any DB Pre-Superman V Goku 2 seriously. They wanted cool matches and only kind off justified their results.

I see your point and I agree. But I'd cut them some slack in that regard. Back then nobody really knew how to VS Debate and frameworks hadn't really been a widely accepted thing.

IT CLINCHES VICTORY USING ITS POWERFUL FLYING PRESS

It uses its muscles, bulked up by Mega Evolution, to take hit after hit from opponents’ moves and flex its own strength. After luring its opponent into attacking, it retaliates to make them flinch before diving at them using its signature move, Flying Press, to aim for victory.

A SHOWBOATING ENTERTAINER WHO HYPES UP A CROWD

Before Mega Evolving, Hawlucha would sometimes let its guard down as it became caught up in parading its flashy moves, but with newfound confidence in its own defensive capabilities, it can now show off again and again to both its opponent and its Trainer. It lifts both hands and spreads its wings, constantly putting its beauty and tough pectoral muscles on full display.

(Personal note: There's a lot of talk about its defenses. I swear, if thing ends up being bulkier but they lowered its speed, I will be frustrated.... Heck, it's apparently also 20 cm taller & 3.5 kg heavier than regular Hawlucha.)

p2_01.png

After bathing in the energy of Mega Evolution, its whole body has grown more muscular.
p2_02.png

Its signature move is Flying Press.
p2_03.png

It spins to increase the momentum of its dive when attacking.
p2_04.png

It shows off its muscular chest—both to its opponent and to its Trainer.

(I mean it loses access to unburden, so that doesn't need to happen bumping both defenses to 100 only requires 62 of the 100 mega stat points leaving it free to have up to 130 attack. Given it is specifically said to flinch foes I doubt it's speed will drop too much.

LS upscale
In base form, right? (Also, what if the Hawlucha was better trained, or trainer bond matters, since we saw it for Hawlucha's trainer, but not Machamp's, if I recall correctly? Correct me if I'm wrong, please.)

Hopefully. What if flinching is not in regards to game mechanics, though?

I mean it does reference goading Pokémon to attack them, but it also references the issues the Pokémon has due to posing which has never really affected its game play before.

Mega Hawlucha! My MF GOAT
black-man-crying.jpg

I love this thing. It's simultaneously goofy and kind of unsettling, which is perfect for Malamar!

(P.S. congratulations on the staff promotion)!
Thank you very much.
Also, today has been a bit hectic, & in the midst of all that, I nearly forgot, but now I remembered!

VIVID AND BRIGHTLY GLOWING: GET TO KNOW MEGA MALAMAR!

Mega Evolution has caused its brain to swell, and its psychic power is significantly enhanced.

ITS ENHANCED PSYCHIC POWER CAN TAKE OVER SOMEONE’S PERSONALITY

Malamar’s brain has become enlarged as a result of Mega Evolution. Greatly enhanced psychic power overflows from its body, emitting a bright glow. This vividly colored light further amplifies the Pokémon’s hypnotic abilities, allowing it to freely overwrite the personalities or even memories of others—a terrifying power that can make someone seem like an entirely different person.

HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, WITH A CLEVER AND HAUGHTY PERSONALITY

Its glowing, undulating tendrils are able to pick up on the feelings of those around it. It prefers battling with efficiency, using its powerful intellect to analyze the situation with levelheadedness as it fights. Mega Malamar views others—even Pokémon Trainers—as its pawns. If it disagrees with an order given to it by a Trainer, it will sometimes respond by hypnotizing them, making this an incredibly difficult Pokémon to interact with.

ANNOUNCING A SPECIAL VIDEO FEATURING MEGA MALAMAR!

Breaking news: Malamar is trending throughout Lumiose City! A special report investigating the truth behind this Pokémon’s boom in popularity has been released. Tune in for the whole story.

Wait a minute… If you're a mod, and you already agree with some of my CRTs, we might actually be able to get some change going in Pokemon!
Quite possibly. Though I'd need to find time & energy, & I'd want to thoroughly evaluate the CRTs, as Pokemon is a verse I am quite dedicated to, no offense meant.
The ability to provide an evaluation as a Staff Member for CRTs is quite valuable, of course.

Sorry for any bother.

The Direct had Pokemon content.
Pokemon Pokopia looks like Minecraft Aesthetic mixed with farming simulator. Not a fan of it. Maybe it'll have potential with the Pokemon having dialogue, but by hopes aren't high.
Surprised that Z-A is getting Paid DLC (Mega Dimension Z-A.) as soon as it comes out. Neat that Megas for the Starters plus Raichu were revealed, even if there seems to be a lack of inspiration for Mega Raichu from Gorochu.

I think it looks kind of fun, but simulation type games aren't for everyone.

I'm not surprised it's getting DLC already, but I am kind of surprised they decided to give Raichu Mega forms instead of just giving Pikachu a Mega form... somehow.

Space distortions.

"SPATIAL DISTORTIONS SUDDENLY APPEAR IN LUMIOSE CITY
Distortions in space have appeared without warning in Lumiose City. They seem to connect to a mysterious space—Hyperspace Lumiose. It looks like your story with Team MZ isn’t over yet!"

So is Mega Dimension an alternate dimension/universe or not...? Then again, Hyperspace, so maybe higher dimensional stuff??

"Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension is coming soon! Expand your Lumiose City adventure and dive even deeper into the world of Pokémon Legends: Z-A with this downloadable content. Mega Dimension includes new Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel items that can be used right away in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, along with additional story content you can enjoy after completing Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s main story. You’ll be able to jump into your new adventures with the same save data used to play Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Preorders for Mega Dimension are available now, with the DLC’s additional story content scheduled to release soon after the DLC goes on sale October 16, 2025. Note that in order to progress through Mega Dimension’s story, players will first need to complete the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A."

This indicates that Mega Dimension is sort of post-game, even if it can be started early on, it needs Z-A's main story completed to "progress" it.

Hoopa Unbound exists. Will we get Mega Hoopa??? Intriguing.

Huh, interesting.

Mega Chesnaught, surprisingly, has a small anti-feat, in that Mega Chesnaught apparently can't easily wield its weapon with only one hand due to the weapon's weight. However, gripping it with both hands makes it possible for Mega Chesnaught to "use its weapon with exact precision to beat down foes", apparently.

Also, Mega Chesnaught is the same height & weight as regular Chesnaught, so presumably, the weapon, which is a form of its armor anyway, seems to change in mass.

"A HARDENED OUTER SHELL GREATLY BOLSTERS ITS DEFENSES
Energy from Mega Evolution has been channeled into its outer shell and throughout its body, resulting in a dramatic increase in its defensive capabilities. The fur on its body has also grown and can act as an impact-absorbing cloak. Confident that it can withstand any sort of attack, it possesses a steadfast spirit and always remains levelheaded."

Shoutouts to it possessing a "steadfast spirit" & always remaining "levelheaded".

"THE MEGA EVOLUTION OF THE FOX POKÉMON
It uses psychic powers to confuse opponents, making for a tricky fighting style that allows it to unerringly deal damage.

IT MESMERIZES OPPONENTS USING ITS PSYCHIC POWERS
Its psychic abilities have been enhanced. Mega Delphox controls two branches that float by its side. It moves these branches as if they were brought to life by its magic, leaving onlooking opponents bewildered. It also floats atop a large lit branch, dazzling its foes even further. In contrast to its disoriented opponents, Mega Delphox stays calm and collected as it deals damage by landing precise attacks.

AFTER CONFUSING OPPONENTS, IT INCINERATES THEM WITH SCORCHING FLAMES
Mega Delphox attacks its foes by skillfully coordinating its moves in tandem with the two lit branches floating nearby. And there’s more! These seemingly autonomous flames don’t just confuse the opponent—they can also be combined with the flames Mega Delphox spits from its mouth, forming a huge fireball that engulfs and burns its targets."

Pretty neat. Surely Mega Delphox won't have just Levitate if it gets transferred over, right?
Neat that it attacks from multiple points with "autonomous flames", seemingly in tandem or combined, & I wonder if it'll be plausible that Mega Delphox scales above base Delphox's temperature feat.
Apparently it also lands precise attacks.

I also like that it stays calm & collected.

"It uses its incredible reflexes to launch attacks at opponents while they are distracted by the sight of it clinging to a gigantic water shuriken."

So it counts on its foes making mistakes??

"THIS NINJA POKÉMON FORGOES STEALTH TO MAKE FULL USE OF ITS SHARPENED REFLEXES
Unleashing the energy of Mega Evolution has dramatically improved Mega Greninja’s reflexes. It intentionally reveals itself to push opponents into attacking. Then, it detects their incoming attacks and moves so swiftly that it’s able to strike first. Normally, Greninja would appear in a flash and disappear like a ninja. Now that it has Mega Evolved, it no longer bothers to hide itself, demonstrating to opponents its confidence that it will win."

Forgoes stealth, goads foes into attacking it so it can... detect their incoming attacks & move so swiftly that it's able to strike first. Either this is some absurd reaction stuff due to its statedly enhanced reactions, or precognition. &/or some kind of absurd speed.

Still, Mega Greninja, are you stupid? It seems impractically confident.

Somehow, Greninja is the only one of the trio that ended up with intelligence/behavioural issues. Mega Chesnaught & Delphox stay calm, but Greninja is overconfident & arguably reckless, since its goading foes into attacking to evade them, lol. I guess it's sure it'll be able to find openings that way?

Forgot to mention: Interestingly, all 3 of them are the same height & weight as their regular form.

THE MYTHICAL POKÉMON HOOPA HOLDS THE KEY TO THE STORY

hoopa_thumbnail-1192w.jpg

"Hoopa is a Mythical Pokémon that can warp space using the loops on its horns and around its body.

These loops are stretchable, and it can form holes inside them leading to far-off places. Whatever passes through one of its portals can be transported instantaneously.

It’s fond of foods that have holes in them—especially donuts.

What role could it have to play in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension? Stay tuned for more details."

Interestingly, though there's a little entry showing Hoopa Confined form's Pokedex stats below that blurb.
But they don't call it Hoopa Confined, they just call it Hoopa. Have they abandoned that terminology? & especially notably, there's no mention of Hoopa Unbound. Will we get Hoopa Unbound? Mega Hoopa? Both? Will Hoopa Unbound be considered to be Mega Hoopa itself???

"Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y can be encountered by meeting specific conditions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension."

So Mega Raichu's available through the Mega Dimension DLC....

Category: Mouse Pokémon
Type: Electric
Height: 1.2 m
Weight: 38 kg

"IT FLOATS USING ELECTROMAGNETISM AND CONCENTRATES ELECTRICITY INTO ITS FISTS

The repulsion from the electromagnetic force generated by its two tails allows it to float as it moves. Its ample subcutaneous fat can store up electric energy, letting it maintain a high electrical output and heightening its defensive capabilities! Using electromagnetism to propel itself swiftly through the air, it can take down opponents several times its size with a single blow of its electrically charged fists. It bears a distinctive resemblance to regular Raichu."

So, Mega Raichu X, at 120 cm, is 50% taller than regular Raichu. How much of that 120 cm is the two tails Mega Raichu X is standing on??
Also, it sounds like it's physically leaning with defensive aspects, & despite the huge tails, it floats. But no Levitate, I'm betting.

They also menton it resembles Regular Raichu, but its tails resemble Pikachu's, as do its cheek pouches in colour & body colour, IMHO. I guess it's for the ears & the ends of its paws, as well as the torso shape of its body?

mega_raichu_y_square.png

Category: Mouse Pokémon
Type: Electric
Height: 1 m
Weight: 26 kg

"IT STRIKES SWIFTLY AND BATHES FOES IN ELECTRIC POWER

Mega Raichu Y’s greatest strength is its ability to unleash its power instantaneously, so it excels in short, decisive battles. The amount of electricity it can generate in the electric sacs on its cheeks has been powered up. The energy generated in these cheek pouches is amplified as it courses in a zig-zag pattern between its tail and the spiky, horn-like fur on its head, letting it unleash powerful Electric-type moves. All this electric energy gives it a wild and combative temperament, causing it to eschew tactical maneuvers in favor of a straightforward approach to battling. It bears a distinctive resemblance to Pikachu."

In contrast to regular Raichu's 80 cm, & Mega Raichu X's 120 cm, Mega Raichu Y is 100 cm, despite not having two huge tails to be upright on.
It's also said that it "bears a distinctinve resemblance to Pikachu". Yet it has regular Raichu's torso colour & a lot of regular Raichu's kind of tail, as well as regular Raichu's cheek pouch colours. I guess it's for the ears & the mostly-lightning-bolt-shape-ended tail?

Mega Raichu Y sounds like it'll be a good sweeper, or meant to be one, at least.
Apparently, thanks to all its electric energy generated in its cheek pouches, it has a "wild & combative temperament, causing it to eschew tactical maneuvers in favor of a straightforward approach to battling.". Sounds like it's kind of simpleminded, IMHO.

What do you all think?
