Superman (2025) Movie Spoiler Discussion Thread

Welp, if there's actual stuff in other media I concede.

GIVE HOMELANDER THE MAILMAN TREATMENT BOY!
John when he hears Clark say "fetch" (he knows he's about to get no-diffed)

I don't recall him hurting her (pretty sure she walked away from that whole thing with no damage due to the nanobots).
she was definitely hurt and staggered, her just being able to regenerate is does not discount from the actual damage he does
I'm not saying he doesn't scale to anyone at all but out of the big hitters of the movie he is the lowest of the group scaling wise.
I'm not saying he's 100% on the level either but he does downscale even if its at most 8-B, he literally leaves Ultraman on the ground in pain for 5~10 seconds after ramming him

Don't know if that counts as regen, since it's shown she does actively cover herself with the nanobots to negate damage. So it could just be really impressive reflexes, if there is mentions or more direct showings of her regenerating I'd concede on that point too. Granted that could just be because it's hard to tell any actual damage happening due to the nanobots looking weird.

So Ultraman decided to just take a 5~10 second nap for the love of the game? by your logic...

Alright I don't really feel like going on a whole argument about dog scaling but it's literally a plot point that everything Ultraman does is just stuff parroted by Lex and his team. He is also very clearly not taking a '5~10 second nap' as you can clearly see him starting to get up at the 5 second mark.

I mean Ultraman being parroted literally has jack to do with Krypto sending him back reeling in pain and he's still holding his chest as he gets up, I just don't vibe with how disingenuous you tried being initially through those first few replies literally ignoring shit he does on screen and saying its not worth having a profile,. very weird behavior personally but obvious the nap thing is a bit of hyperbole by my part 🤷‍♂️

I wasn't trying to be disingenuous I'm just recalling the events of the movie as I can.

Ultraman being parroted does have jack to do since he barely does any actions without Lex's direct say-so. He literally does nothing in the upcoming scenes because Lex doesn't direct him to and I don't recall him being particularly harmed for long/showing any issue with it other than that moment of him getting up. I don't have your access to the film, your version of the obvious was a brief moment of the big screen for me. That's not ignoring that's being human.

Considering that Ultraman is said to be stronger, should he upscale from Supes?
I do recall that + he kinda washes Supes all around the film, so probably yeah, also remember it being explicitly stated he's dumb as rocks. Which is similarly supported since the moment he losses Lex support he starts getting smacked by Clark

I do like that Lex is probably the smartest MF in this universe, but his ego and reckless behaviour is more often what backfires on him in comparison to someone like Mr Terrific.
It’ll be interesting seeing Lex as a jailbird and how that progresses in later installments. Makes him a more adamant “criminal mastermind” as he was in pre-crisis, where he rejects the whole facade of a principled businessman as just a stepping stone towards his true goals.

But it might just be ignored and he’ll use fake news or something to rehabilitate himself unfortunately. We’ll see.

I found another noteworthy feat from the Welcome to Metropolis novel, where Clark can apparently fly from Metropolis to the Kent farm "in an instant", and is stated to be there "seconds later":

do we have the link to this

It was released a few months ago in support of the film, It should be canon.

Doesn't it also mention that Superman has already fought Metallo?

Btw, I could be misremembering the lines but that Anti-proton sea Mr. terrific talked about, shouldn’t that give Superman some antimatter resistance since he was in there for an entire fight and Terrific said he and Lois would’ve melted in seconds?
yup I'm still in progress on the profiles calcing on the relevant feats needed for everyone before I knock out all the abilities

Who would you guys have as a the main bad guy for the sequel?

I think I'd probably go for a lesser known villain, but I'd genuinely love to see Brainiac, or Darkseid, or Doomsday.

I think Mongul could be badass. Although not sure how to set him up

I feel like Brainiac would be dope to see, mostly since we technically seen Doomsday and Darkseid in live action so seeing some other Superman villains that haven’t gotten the big screen-time would be nice. Plus seeing some battle of intelligence vs Superman’s compassion would be unique of a conflict.

Brainiac would probably be more fitting for a second movie, though I guess someone like Parasite would work too. I'd rather not have Doomsday be a second movie villain again, and Darkseid would benefit from some extra buildup.

If they bring in Mongul, they'd need to make him way more powerful than Mongal was.

Holy shit I forgot Mongal was in the previous Suicide Squad.

Mongul is a neat choice as I don't think he's ever appeared in live action? He's also a Green Lantern villain sometimes, and had a baller story arc where he tried to take over the Sinestro corps, so could probably also tie him in to Lanterns?

Brainiac is an obvious choice tho, as he can lead to the new krypton story arc and can lead to this world's Superman maybe becoming a big more accepting of his Kryptonian heritage.

And the only time he's appeared in live action was in the show "Krypton" to my memory so we've never seen them fight in live action.

And Death of Superman has been adapted like 12 million times so I understand the fatigue around Doomsday, but that Slash from TMNT looking thing in BVS was horrible and a shame to be the first time in live action we see this fight. Superman and Lois did him some justice tho, it's just a shame that they didn't have a higher budget honestly.

If we get a version of The Death of Superman in the DCU, I'd hope that it's after we get like, a decade worth of stories from this version of Superman. My biggest problem with how the DCEU did it was that it was adapted way too early, and Superman's death had very little impact because they obviously weren't going to permanently kill him off in the second movie of the series.

Superman's Death had no impact in the actual story because, well, comics. No one with a big enough name ever permanently dies or gets replaced haha.

But yeah, to do that story that early in that continuity was weird, so I'd definitely save Doomsday until much later in the DCU (I'd honestly give him his own movie, rampaging across the universe until meeting Supes, if you guys think that's a stupid idea I don't blame you lol but I'd watch)

But a massive thing id change? Y'all might hate this

Superman doesn't come back. He's dead. And Supergirl, Superboy, and Steel are all his successors
