Because he can't properly heal the damage? Like, Guts isn't one-shotting Maul or anything, but he's aiming for the neck, and there's no Lightsaber cauterization to save Maul from bleeding out unless he does it himself.

Really? Both of them are very skilled fighters.
I know Guts can damage Maul, it's just that between the lightsaber, the Force and a times 4 AP gap, Maul can definitely gain an advantage through the AP gap and his lightsaber can definitely damage Guts a lot.
Still, my old comment in the previous thread still seems relevant.
When Maul sees a guy in primitive looking armour wielding what looks like nothing but a big sword, he'll likely assume that his lightsaber will cut right through the Dragon Slayer. Obi-Wan being a cautious man would probably proceed with the assumption that the Dragon Slayer was made of something that could withstand his lightsaber like cortosis, but Maul would likely assume the opposite.
If he hits the Dragon Slayer expecting it to break, and it doesn't, he'll have made an opening for Guts to attack. And let's not forget that Maul making assumptions about his enemy being weak is how he lost his legs (and his pe... penny bags, yeah that's what I was gonna say), so there's precedent for Maul making this mistake.

The lightsaber which can't really hurt Guts via heat, the force Maul doesn't open with in a fight against another swordsman and even if he did he doesn't really use the nasty variants of it, and the AP Gap that's Tuesday compared to what Guts normally deals with.
Maul is famously susceptible to being surprised, this is how he lost his lower half and how he literally died, and Guts has many surprises up his sleeve, including an explosive cannon a borderline stomp and a one-shot above his own AP.

The armour has the heat resistance too? I know that lightning is 30-35K Kelvins, while lightsabers are composed of plasma which is 20K Kelvins, but is it just the Dragon Slayer or is it the armour as well? And is Maul's weapon still the staff in this key or is he wielding a single lightsaber? Both struggle against the Dragon Slayer in a different way.
What is the AP level of the enemies he beats?

He's usually wielding a double lightsaber, so that'd be what he has here. As for the heat, Guts flew into an active storm cloud constantly firing lightning bolts, he's got lightning heat resistance all around.
Most enemies he beats overpower him physically, and it's usually a "he wouldn't beat them if he wasn't anywhere near this skilled" sort of deal. The Dragon Slayer and Arm Cannon usually one-shot those things.

I'll quote my old comment about the weapons here:
"Maul's weapon has its weaknesses here. It's essentially a quarterstaff used with the hands in the middle. But he uses it to block lightsabers which have minimal mass. It'd be very hard to use one end of the blade to block a heavy blow from Dragon Slayer, and the middle is useless, unlike a real quarterstaff."
Add to that the fact that the Dragon Slayer has an enormous reach advantage, the weapon structures give Guts an advantage.
Wow, so he can withstand 1.5 times the temperature of the lightsaber. That renders the lightsaber practically useless.
That sounds like it may not be as big of a power gap as the AP gap here.

You are all forgetting one thing. Guts is based on Vader. Vader > Maul. Ergo Guts > Maul. It all makes sense.

Vader lost all four limbs and his lungs. Maul lost his legs and his downstairs (poor guy even lost his butt). Guts "just" lost an eye and arm.
Meanwhile poor Maul and Vader probably can't even go to the bathroom anymore... Imagine the constant constipation... That's real pain, right there.

What will it be called though? Obviously we cannot give it an awesome and intimidating name like Maul or like the it's Uncles Savage or Feral. It'll have to be something progressive that invokes hope and equality.

If it's a daughter her name will probably be something like Arc named for Jeanne D'Arc. The name Rey actually refers to royalty, so this fits. If it's a son his name may as well be Dartboard or Punching Bag. Or he could just be Emo Ren the second.

Anyway, I think we've derailed long enough. As much as Star Wars has basically been heading downwards since Lucas sold it to a soulless corporation (Berserk might receive a similar treatment soon, terrifyingly enough), we should focus on this thread here.
