Rule Violation Reports (New forum)

Reporting Magdalenus for suggesting that someone should ask a very obviously leading question to Hugo Martin, creative director for Doom. I don't think he actually did go on Twitter to ask him anything, but I feel like a staff member should advise or warn him about this forum's rules on leading questions, especially since Magdalenus was suggesting the idea of wording it in a specific way so Hugo would agree with the flail being infinitely heavy

In the same thread Hellscream also suggested asking a leading question that definitely sounds like something only a powerscaler would ask

This seems very mundane and likely just ignorance, so I don't think an actual warning of any kind is warranted, but I will let them know our policy.

(Plus there's a generally accepted thread about the rule where we were in the process of refining it.)

As I said in that one, I do not agree it is easy to make the mistake, I agree with rewording them to avoid the argument existing in the first place, even though I consider it very weak 🫵

@MagdalenusTenebrosus @Hellscream You two, no questioning developers or other creators. Strictly against the rules. This isn't a formal warning, but rather important information: it is considered a serious offense.

I actually don't like the idea of asking Hugo Martin because it seems forced and cringeworthy to force an author to discuss these topics. I apologize.

It doesn't have to be easy to make for a ton of people to make it, especially if they're neurodivergent and take things somewhat literally.
I, personally, will keep going easy on people until it is stupid-proofed. Though it seems like we agree on the course of action here anyway.

You can personally hold any opinion you want. I object to the idea being "generally accepted", however, was the point- this implies agreed motive for the change, which doesn't exist, is all.

I see. I meant the thread was about it being too vague, and the thread is generally accepted.

I will reword my previous statement to avoid putting any words in your mouth, my apologies.

I think that Mahek just reacted to that Homie890 made a statement about doing something potentially life-threatening. Given that Mahek seems to be autistic, he took it literally, got worried, and wanted to warn about the consequences. I think that he seemed to mean well. 🙏

@SkibidiShady is also responsible for these matchups..

*First - This match was created, which was pretty much a stomp.
*Second - After Grand Priest had already won, he decided to make this matchup (a much stronger character versus the same character)
*Third - And now this... Do I even need to say anything?
I would say neither first and second are stomps. Second one, almost everyone agrees that Goku was weaker than GP since Goku at his weakest key

Not sure about the third since you agree Yukari can win

To basically summarize everything, he's purposefully making spite/stomp matches for some odd strange reason.
First time, everyone makes mistakes.
Second time... you pushin it.
Third time... c'mon man.

Now I'm not saying thread ban him for any duration. Maybe a warning/instructional message is suitable for this situation. 🙂

Also I dont think the third one is relevant as it's not dragon ball related which the OP has explaned it here

I was made aware of this report privately and felt it was worth adding a quick note. The recent surge in Yukari matchups seems to have started after the Lady Bone Demon MU.

While I don’t have concrete evidence, I do have some mild suspicions that SkibidiShady may be a sock account - or, more charitably, just a new and inexperienced user. They’ve recently shared one of their matchups in our General Discussion thread, so they’re at least aware that it’s the appropriate place to discuss MU's before pitching them.

That said, I don’t think there’s any reason to assume bad intent. It seems more likely that he’s just throwing MU's out there without much forethought or discussion. As I mentioned, he appears to be relatively new to the site.

Well, assuming they're not a sock (I can't check that), it seems that just a properly worded instruction to be far more diligent when creating match-ups is probably appropriate.

Is it the same person doing it, or is the YouTuber getting his fans to do it? (How would the second option even be dealt with)
Theoretically, I think our first step would be to reach out to them and see if we can convince them to stop.

If they're unwilling to listen to reason, our only choice would probably be to consistently ban every single person who comes over to troll, which would be annoying but not impossible.

Can't someone just ban his IP altogether? Because frankly, I can understand it would be extremely annoying for KingTempest.

Well, a YouTuber and their fans would have different IPs.
Honestly? Same result. I think we shouldn't settle with mediocrity, especially when the intent comes very close to harassment of one staff member. Someone makes an account to bother KingTempest? IP Ban. Another one? Same.

I understand that sometimes, "we can give some chance", but I don't see any redeeming quality in someone who purposely come to just annoy someone else.

Well IP bans should generally be avoided unless absolutely necessary because there can be a ton of false positives.

A lot of people share IPs. For example, everyone using the internet on a college campus would have the same IP, so IP banning one person there would ban the entire campus.

IP bans have been infamously easy to bypass for a while now and worst of all, can actually impact users that are without a shadow of a doubt innocent. VPN's are so ubiquitous and cheap that there is no difference between an IP ban and a regular ban

I frankly doubt they go to such length as spoofing everything about them. If anything, they are surely a young person.

While possible, it's highly unlikely. I understand your concerns, but it's such a "what if" that I personally don't accept it as a valid argument.

Well, in any case, I don't want to disturb the thread too much. Ultimately, KingTempest should be the one voicing whatever they wish to be done.

You are a new user, relative speaking, so I won't fault you for thinking that. But as someone who witnessed most of VSB's worst trolls, I can tell you that this place attracts enough people for me to say that this is decidedly false. Its also not a "what if" that IP bans have backfired on us, there were users being banned because they happened to use a Internet connection with a banned IP adress. Do this for enough IP adresses and youre bound to hit more.

So the whole point would be... doing nothing and waiting for it to pass or (hopefully) make the guy(s) stop?

I can't believe I have to do this.
Reporting @Johner2133451 for the level of ignorance I've possibly never seen before in my life.
It started with this thread. Now, we've already established that this is a stomp/mismatch.
So we take it to all purpose. Starting from here, another user asked for the match to be closed. After a brief derailment from Johner, we've gotten back on track. Johner is refusing to accept that the versus thread is a mismatch, despite the other people in the versus thread accepting that this match is a mismatch.
Now, with the level of ignorance and coping I have ever seen in my years of living, the guy then goes on to create a staff dicussion post about mismatches or stomps (which can be read more on in said thread) in which didn't help his case at all.

Now.. I'm no expert, but I'm relatively sure that Johner has been targetted for his ignorance before but this is just a whole nother level.

That's about it. What are we thinking?

There's no single time where the term mismatch is used for the wiki. Even Mr Bambu mentioned in the thread that anyone who closes the match for being "unfun" (like you), is against Wiki policy
