Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken Discussion Thread 20

But because I'm deciding to get into Tensura for fun and be better than the average 'fan' (tiktok users or YouTube shorts creators), hello.

How do ya'll feel about fuse and their writing decisions.

the recent volumes were kinda boring ngl. especially volume 21. Sometimes i have a stroke because of the inconsistency of fuse. But overall, the fight scenes and all are amazing for me. He said he's gonna end it on V23. I think the ending will be like the web novel, him becoming God, but it will likely but so rushed. I heard many people saying there is enough content to cover volume 24 as well. Probably this volume will be longer than others, so yea, it might be good or bad, we have to wait and see.

She has a skill that can make her accelerate up to near SOL. I guess that outside a world she could reach infinite speed but it's useless. Still nothing that reach immeasurable.
Well infinite is an upgrade over the ftl and mftl we have at the moment.

Tensura is very much fun, but the only thing I find annoying is Rimuru himself. Or rather the fact of what he can do, but doesn't. He have access to maybe 40 ultimate skills and uses maybe 3. I understand that it's hard to make someone who could seriously threaten Rimuru at this point of story, and that's why Rimuru is "nerfed", but it stills pokes me in place I don't like to be poked.

isnt it exactly the same as velgrynd, masayuki got transported first in the otherworld(after seeing velgrynd for the first time when velgrynd was searching for soul fragment) before velgrynd got her cthugha US or did masayuki just got transported in the past(different point of time) of the otherworld
SHe didn't do that by moving fast also there wasn't two Velgrynds at the same place at the same time so no.

I said this some months ago but it does at times feel like the story has some ass pulls, and it especially shows during the Eastern Empire arc with all the very convenient power ups across Rimuru's army

That him not losing a single member of his army. Fuse tends to hesitant when it comes to killing off the "good guys". In hindsight, Shizue dying off permanently is incredible lol.
I think the story overall is interesting although it definitely has its flaws

Tensura is full of amazing albeit some generic ideas, but suffers from poor execution and most times amateurish and lazy writing on Fuse's part. Perhaps due to pressure to wrap up the series quickly and his lack of assertiveness.

The story peaked at Volume 11 imo. After that the rich world building, the major strength of the series began to fade.

The story doesn’t really need deeply complex characters, but it needs a consistent sequence of events that unveils the world and the many beings and coherent lore to stay engaging. Unfortunately, Rimuru and most of his crew undergo little to no real character development, which is not my problem except from Veldora ,Milim, Ramiris, and Chloe.

However, the antagonists, who often show real potential are given very little screen time and killed off or humiliated not long after their introduction.

Ironically, Fuse has shown that he can write compelling plot with depth, as seen in Volume 8.5, the vacation spin-offs, and the Isekai Memories storyline. Unfortunately, he hasn’t maintained that level of quality consistently throughout the main series.

If you intend to get into the series it's better to go in with little expectations, prepare for sometimes boring dialogues. It's a very fun series and has a distinct appeal no Isekai will ever be able to replicate.

Honestly, I feel like fuse is just rushing through the story so that in the afterstories, he can tell more original ideas and expand on missed content without it conflicting with the final arc. I'm predicting, he will go into straight sci fi after the civilisations start to progress at a faster rate without the threat of the tenma war kinda like in the WN but more advanced.

Given how much and how big of a money maker the series is for everyone involved, why not just give FUSE free reign to write how much he wants as he wants?

Yeah. It's pretty obvious. He seems to be really good at writing side stories and has some cool ideas which he pointed out in vacation spin off and interviews. But imagine discovering the cardinal world had 2 moons when the main series has almost ended....

I've read Volume 22 and unfortunately if we don't see more, a powerscaling meta where all the top tier characters except All-One (2-A, possibly far higher/1-A?), including True Dragon Veldanava (2-A with Voice of the World) and Ivaraj are physically Low 2-C seems quite possible. I also think I can upgrade the top tier characters in Web Novel from 3-A to Low 2-C. It may be possible to upgrade both LN and WN Rimuru to 2-B, but if Ivaraj can only destroy worlds one by one and if LN Rimuru and Ivaraj scale to each other, they can both only be at least Low 2-C.

You may find what I am saying strange/missing for now, but after seeing my arguments, I think most of you will find it reasonable.

But to be honest, I hope I can find a way to debunk myself until the official translation of Volume 22 comes out.

What about the cardinal world, its currently 2-A.

Destroying Cardinal World, unless we're talking about destroying alternate timelines, it should be considered as destroying a single timeline. Otherwise, that would be extremely inconsistent with Ivaraj being able to destroy multiple worlds created by Veldanava one by one. The same case valid for Rimuru's feat about recreating Cardinal World.

What’s inconsistent about it?

I swear, If Fuze adds some shitty Plot manipulation, (an R>F) with a dream or story shit, I am nuking the verse myself. (speaking about the LN here specifically)

It is inconsistent if a character who can destroy an infinite number of Low 2-C structures in a limited time period can only destroy other Low 2-C structures one by one.
Might be a range issue. Or Ivarje just wasn’t trying that hard, after all its main goal is the Cardinal World and the fragments of Veldanava. My memory is foggy but hasn’t Ivarje not destroyed anything yet? Like as soon as they awaken they went straight to the cardinal world.
