Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Scaling aside, I think the best case scenario is Sonic & Co. gaining some hefty resistances, like if Super Sonic gets a face full of Omega Beams & keeps on trucking.

And you can't forget aura farming, Issen. The most important part of the crossover, scaling be damned

Look at the reaction to Knuckles gliding along Superman. The potential for cool moments we can get with our favorite characters is insane and that's why Super Sonic is a must

Super Sonic has to show up, right? That's like, a must.

Even better, the 06 Super Trio but that is just copium
If there was ever a reason for him to show up, it's this. I can totally see a league member saying "he's a one-man Justice League. He has Superman's strength, Flash's speed, & Green Lantern's energy contructs".

I hope they don't treat Super Sonic with "as strong as Superman"-ism or don't give respect to the Sonic case. I want SHOWINGS, I want STATEMENTS, and I want them given actual RESPECT. If the Sonic cast just becomes a tagalong to the DCU peeps, it's gonna make me lose faith.

It could honestly go either way with Ian. He could say "Sonic is complete fodder" or "Screw your gigantic cosmology, Chaos Emeralds are true infinity"

Combine that with Power Thief and Pit could raise his chances of victory*.

(*Sora sort of resists this. Specifically, he having his powers nullified, but not stolen or replicated as far as I’m aware. So they’d both have access to Sora’s abilities.)

Meaning Pit can absolutely put up a fight.

Sadly my GOAT still loses.
The thing is that Sora's powers are bound to esoteric type 1 CM and type 2 info stuff plus several other specific traits, so it'd be quite a NLF to say the least.

IIRC, Ian said he was working with the Justice League based in his memories from the DCAU cartoons, so I wouldn't expect anything crazy coming from the DC side. It feels he is just going for the more archetypal roles these characters fit in any work rather than the detailed complexity modern comics bring.

Well I just hope he doesn't mess up any characterization or do anything stupid with DC stuff, too. I'm not as big of an Ian Hater as some people, so I just hold out hope and hope for the best.

How many possible combinations of Emerl's combat styles can be made (disregarding the infinite statement)

You can actually calculate that sort of thing... but uh.. literally no one on Earth would want to use the time to calculate that. The result would just be some stupid big ******* number.

Try it

I don't think you get it. I can't. It would literally take forever. Forever is an exaggeration. But it would take way more time than it's worth. If the combinations were uniform, you could just use a calculator. But they aren't. So you would manually have to go in the game, and try every combination yourself. Which would take longer than several lifespans to do. And uh, I don't want to waste my entire life to do a calculation.

Or maybe it could go both ways with base Sonic getting downplayed while the Chaos Emeralds get the most absurd buff ever which would be kind of funny. Or if Ian is going off his memory of the DCAU I could see everyone getting nerfed with only Superman and Super Sonic being the exceptions kind of like what would happen if you blended the powerscaling of IDW Sonic and CW Flash into a figurative anti feat smoothie which would also be funny.

In any case though I'm fine with this so long as the Sonic cast are allowed to do cool stuff and aren't just treated as tag alongs to the Justice League

Jus
And is this about MODERN sonic?
Just something in general, he doesn't see Sonic as strong and isn't what he focus when he writes something. When he ends up writing something overpowered, it's more of a consequence of the setting given to him rather than what he actually would want to tell, he is much more into developing characters and exploring possibilities for stories than anything power-wise.

Aw what the hell man?! Does Sonic just enter the big rings and instantly comes out with a Chaos Emerald?

Did SEGA have anything to say about that?
According to Ian and Chris, Rings do not exist in canon, and when they do, it's "odd things" (Reason why many prefer to just ignore their statements and go with something else).

i mean, THERE ARE RINGS IN CROSSWORLDS
Golden Rings between worlds, which funny enough, is an element from the old Two Worlds lore. Even when Ian said that Rings didn't exist, he also said "there are hidden huge rings that are used to travel between worlds, just those". Even though Two Worlds isn't true anymore, it seems that element continues.

but also like... they talk about Rings all the time, be it money, Rivals 2 and in Final Horizon... i dunno why they don't want them to be canon tbh

Windnic The Windhog arguments are mostly misinformed. Super Sonic has had lightning decades before "Brand Synergy" arguments, & only Speed Force users have lightning for the most part. It's not as "generic" or commonplace as many claim across fiction as a whole.

Personally I like Base=Wind, Super=The entire storm.

People need to stop taking Ian Flynn's words seriously. Honestly, it's just slop what he says. Not going to listen to a single thing unless it actually makes a lick of sense/not trying to write out things that previously existed.
