That’s why I posted the original wikis profile.

But he was basically a psychic and while he made fun a serial killer (the main antagonist) his wife and daughter got killed. So he refused to be a psychic and started using his methods while solving cases. Here are examples of him investigating caching killers,

Recently rewatched deathnote and I am watching the mentalist at the moment so this was kind of on my mind. I think Patrick if he had the same info as L could likely figure it out and the first conversation he had with Light he would likely convince himself light is Kira. Though if for some reason Patrick jane had to go to Japan he is a somewhat known entity and may just get killed by light if catches on he is investigating him

Light takes him out by making him choke on tea or something. Smart as Jane is, he "shockingly" doesn't have counters to magic death god books.
