why are physically weak characters (relative to the rest of the characters on this wiki in which the vast majority have physical capabilities vastly beyond what would be considered reasonable for a real person/creature) with comparatively formidable supernatural abilities named after the little blue bug-ape creatures from a cartoon

No idea, i think it is based on the term used for games, where a high level player creates a new account to be paired with low level players and destroy them more oftenly, they are called smutfs for some reason.

Similar to how hax is something that allows you to defeat superior opponents, like how hacks lets you beat better players

Doing some quick search on google it seems like the term smurf originated from some game called Warcraft II way back in the 90s when two experienced players made smurf accounts to destroy newbies. And the names for their account were PapaSmurf and Smurfette hence the term smurf.

I see, i also curious why vs thread define smurf as not so physically powerful dude with some outerversal hax that can stomp most verse with ease, now i know thx vs battle

so it's just a general term for someone who's deceptively weak?

I heard people calling some haxed based characters "Smurfs" but I never really got it.

I mean if it's indeed like that, then most character in the vs battle will be a smurf no? Cuz most character will definitely use their OP haxes to win at some point

Doesn’t the site currently only consider characters with hax above their dimension lvl smurfs? Like a 3-D being with 4-D hax would be a smurf. But a 9-B with 3-A power wouldn’t be considered a smurf as the ability is still 3-D and not 4-D.

That is indeed what i thought too, maybe it needs more explanation in the vs battle fandom wiki page

I also have heard of people using "Smurf" as a verb for hax stomping someone.

Smurfs are characters listed to be a specific lvl (mountain lvl for example) yet have insane hax to the point they body anyone in their tier and way above their tier. Some examples would include:

Comic Flagg - Dark Tower
Pennywise (before the upgrade) - Dark Tower
That one chick from DC thats a human but has Lucifer lvl hax (forgot her name)

The term “smurf” however is widely used, and is meant to denote those who in rpgs would use alt accounts to destroy newbie’s (think LOL and WOW)
