Hello how are you?

I was wondering if you could help me make the dante composite profile, this is a pure fun project, nothing more.

Well, I can edit it. The option appears when I look at the page. But since it's your sandbox, I'd aught not to touch it unless you definitely want me to.

I should also note that the last Composite Dante profile was removed by Antvasima, though I'm not certain I agree with the reasoning. If you want to make this a proper page, I'll ask him about it first.

2-I did not know that before I had a composite version here (probably at that time I did not have much of what I already have and several new appearances that are and come as the crosover with clastevenia on Netflix).
 
Well, it was made and removed relatively recently.

Again, I am a bit dubious about the reasons, so I might see if I can talk with Ant about it.
 
Hello. I'm the one who first created the Composite Dante page (although is only Devil May Cry and Shin Megami Tensei), but got deleted, I'm okay with it tho.

But like DarkGrath said (The reasons is not dubious, just some guy says to admin that "Pretty sure this is not happening" and boom, the page's gone. But I think it is because I didn't ask them first), maybe we can ask the staff, due to this statement:

"'Composite profiles should generally only be given to extremely prominent well-known characters with multiple incarnations, and these should only go by their own highest statistics. That means that external weapons and power-sources, that are not a normal part of their arsenal, should be excluded.

This type should preferably be gauged on a case-by-case basis, and you should first ask the staff if it is acceptable to create one."
 
Yeah, my point is just that I think the Composite Dante profile should be acceptable (when compared to other similar profiles, but I am aware it is a case-by-case thing). I'm sure there is someone we can ask who would approve of it.
 
We should preferably generally try to avoid composite profiles unless the canon is hard to make coherent sense of, to avoid setting bad precedents with very exaggerated statistics. We do not allow composite Superman or Goku profiles either.

well, Dante had two appearances in SMT (and we have a profile of an appearance that is outdated average), has a mini story in Viewtiful Joe (which is supposed to go from the course of dmc1 to the anime and shows things of the canon without affecting it and It was made by the same creator) it has appears in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Infinite (we could do the same thing they did with infustice due to comics and video games).

This is also a project to hang out.

But anyway, I believe what makes Composite Dante "possible" is that we can find other composite profiles in this wiki that are even less complicated then Dante's case, one example is Composite Devilma, which only have two versions (even less then Dante)

Other examples are Ghostface, and basically every Injustice Composite Character, like Superma, for example, and they literally only have two games and some comics
 
I don't think that Dante's canon is confusing enough to warrant a composite profile. It is likely better to stick to separate pages for his different versions instead.

There is A LOT of Dante's incarnations across media actually.

Here's example (Do not count the cameos):

  • SMT
  • SMT: Liberation Dx2 (Different incarnation from above)
  • Viewtiful Joe
  • MvC
  • Teppen
  • Project X Zone
  • Seven Knights
He doesn't have less incarnations than the likes of Composite Injustice Characters or Ghostface and James Bond that has the same continuity, and doesn't have too much incarnations like Godzilla.
 
Well, I am not fond of composite Godzilla either, and think that it would set a bad precedent to get more unnecessary composite profiles just to squeeze as high statistics as possible out of popular characters.
 
I'm fond of Godzilla, and I agree that the Composite Godzilla's profile is too much, like, look at that tabber!

Put that aside, I think Composite Dante seems legit tho. Like TheThen said, it is not too much like Godzilla, it is medium. It's just some Composite profile that I feel like we can accept.
 
We would get demands for composite profiles for lots of other popular characters as well if we allow it, and I think that the composite Godzilla page should be removed as well.

I do get your point, and simply having a bunch of unnecessary composite profiles isn't all that helpful.

But by all means, this page doesn't really break any of the composite profile rules, does it?

If this page doesn't seem acceptable, then the composite profiles rules should surely be far more strict than they are. I don't mind either way, it just seems like this page would either be acceptable or the rules would be more strict.
 
I think that our rules likely should be stricter. The main reason for why they are not is that there were already a bunch of composite, and particularly alternative canon, profiles in the wiki before we wrote them.

You can ask other administrators to comment here. Possibly Promestein and Matthew as well.

Hm, yeah, that makes sense. It would probably be best to set up the specifics of the rules in a future thread and discuss which specific composite profiles should be removed under the rules.

Though that'd be best not to handle now, of course. With the forum move coming soon, I'm highly doubtful there's enough time to properly discuss the topic.

Not even close. There are several characters who would be higher tiers than him. Arguably one of the strongest in the series for his tier, but not at all comparable to the higher tiered characters.

Well, again. These profiles mainly exist because of the lax and somewhat vague rules at the time regarding composite profiles. They probably shouldn't exist. Even though I do think composite Dante should be fine (given his variety of unique depictions each with interesting contributions to powers and AP) if the rules are made more strict than they are now (as they probably should be) then composite Dante probably wouldn't fit the bill.
 
This is a quite important topic, in terms of our general composite rules, so I would prefer if several staff members take a look at it.
 
I'll contact the staff members I know who are involved with DMC. Off the top of my head, that's Matt, Kepe, and Reb, though I might think of someone else.

Also, while I am aware that people have generally not liked Matt very much on DMC threads, he is still an important staff member who had aught to have a say on this under the circumstances. Regardless of anyone's disposition towards him. It doesn't mean that you have to agree with him, but his opinion should still be considered.
