You're all kidding me, right?

An entire hospital containing (among other things) trained police officers with standard issue pistols couldn't stop Marcus from killing them.

TM Black's Calypso, who (as we see in John Doe's ending) carried a gun and was capable of using it effectively enough to kill a trained FBI agent, couldn't stop Needles from killing him. Needles didn't even have his giant serrated blade here, either; he killed Calypso with a regular knife.

What has Arthur done that makes "having a gun" an advantage against someone who easily kills trained people who try to use handguns on him?
 
I'd be surprised if it didn't. From what I heard about the Joker movie (spoilers avoided, thankfully), Arthur is only slightly more combat-oriented than Caesar Romero's Joker, if that.
