Magic Blue-Eyed Skulls (Sans vs Mumbo Jumbo)

They're a couple of blue-eyed boneheads known for magic abilities, telekinesis, fourth wall breaks, and some humor. Recently both of them finally had their games referenced in Smash.

Battle is in Mumbo's hut with no prep, speed not equalized. Mumbo has glowbos and Sans has ketchup.

"EEKUMBOKUM. SKELETON NOT BEAR AND BIRD'S TRANSFORMATION."

"whoops, i thought this was grillby's. wrong shortcut i guess."

"INTRUDER ALSO WEARS SKULL. LAST TIME MUMBO HAD IMPOSTER, HE FOOLED BEAR AND BIRD."

"what a bonehead. you are REALLY not going to like what happens next."

Sans: 2 (Super Ascended Sean Pazdera, Sans2345 (<-I THINK he voted???))

Mumbo Jumbo: 9 (TheArsenal1212, Stalker Maggot, Niccokirby, GyroNutz, Planck69, Kriskirby, CoolDeante, ApiesDeathbyLazors, Listentomyrhytm)

Incon: 0

MumboJumbo

Not really, telekinesis like Sans' danmaku and bone Spam is an opening move for MJ the likes of which is greatly amplified with glowbos.

Truth be told, Mumbo has rarely fought anyone

But with his superior lifting strength, telekinesis would be almost effortless for Mumbo. Any trouble he seems coming he can potentially BFR if he so desired anyway

Even if Mumbo Jumbo stays still for one second, he's dead. He'll likely stay still for multiple seconds to lift Sans, in which time Sans will danmaku stomp, assuming that's even needed to do so. Even if he succeeds, Sans will teleport before he hits anything, or even use his own, superior telekinesis against Mumbo Jumbo. His BFR has never been used offensively, and (I believe?) takes time to do. Even if he succeeds, there's nothing that says Sans won't simply kill Mumbo Jumbo in the future.

Uh, doesn't Mumbo litteraly have the reaction speed to dodge that shit?

"Subsonic attack speed" is all that Sans' profile says

Mumbo has Supersonic+ combat and reaction speed so

With someone like Sans, having higher speed than him only makes it fair. What gives Sans the win is Mumbo Jumbo's unreliable magic, his complete lack of fighting skills, and the fact that Sans's attacks are easy to mess up even if you could see them coming.

Having higher speed could lead to a blitz tho, that's litteraly why speed is equalized in most of his matches.

And I'm not saying Mumbo wins btw, I'm just pointing that out.

Pretty sure Sans just upscales from Superhuman, Mumbo badly blitzes here. Sans won't get a chance to attack, and Mumbo's magic is more than reliable enough to grab and toss/transmutate Sans.

Mumbo's telekinesis is far superior to Sans'. Sans' best tk feat is throwing around a human child; casually picking up Banjo & Kazooie is already superior to that. With glowbos, Mumbo can lift train carriages and should be superior to Grunty's sisters who can lift large boulders. Given how casually Mumbo does this, I seriously doubt he'd have to concentrate.

BFR takes a few seconds yeah (relative to Mumbo), but if he gets it off, how and why would Sans be able to track Mumbo down 20 years in the future? That's assuming he doesn't send Sans into the future instead of the past.

I don't want to intervene much since I'm the OP but I want to point out that someone said in another versus thread that apparently Sans can teleport out of superior telekinesis.

When has he ever been shown to do that? He's the only monster that reliably uses telekinesis in combat and has never fought someone else who possessed it.

Anyway, Mumbo FRA.

Hmm, fair enough. I'll tell this to the person in the other thread who said Sans can do that. I don't think Sans can teleport out of it now.

Tooie lets you play as Mumbo, who has a health bar of 4 honeycomb units as opposed to Banjo and Kazooie's default of 5.

We go by feats and scaling here, not stats. But I get the idea about how Sans has intangible monster danmaku that bypasses conventional durability via SOUL magic, so he's the rare case on this wiki where we need to talk about HP. Banjo-Tooie lets you play as Mumbo when you give him a glowbo. In the Banjo games, HP is portrayed as honeycombs. When controlling Mumbo, you only have 4 (far less than Banjo and Kazooie with highest upgrades). However, that's conventional game HP measuring physical durability. Sans' attacks damage the SOUL, and we need to focus on Undertale's HP mechanics. While controlling Mumbo, you can fight and kill enemies with the Zap Stick. Well, we can't exactly gauge just how many he kills throughout the game, so if we assume he's taken from the beginning of the game but has glowbos, he hasn't killed anybody, at least not yet. With an LV of 1, Mumbo's SOUL has 20 HP, and contact with Sans' danmaku will reduce it to 0 in about 0.3 seconds.
