I'm not part of the calc group but my best guess would be from this quote.

50 x 5000 = 250000 Megatons = 250 Gigatons = High 6-C, Large Island level

Volcano Eruptions are often triggered by Magnitude 8 and above Earthquakes; which radiated waves causing it would still be 7-B but the chain reaction being generated is High 6-C. Magnitude 10.5 is the strongest earthquake excluding Magnitude from a distance. Which is Island level+ to cause it, but the chain reaction is Continent level+.
