Two of the most deadliest parasites in fiction.

Conditio

+ Win by any means

+ They start in an isolated small town. The surrounding area is heavily wooded with a small mountain range to the north and west. There is one road in and out of town, that connects to the highway after a mile in both directions. A small lake is nearby the town.

+ Both have infected a pet dog at the beginning and start at the opposite ends of the town

The Flood:

So there are two major points I think we need to consider here. One is a statement of fact (unless I'm wrong), the Flood doesn't hide. Once it infects a host, it mutates it grotesquely, to make it faster and stronger sure, but hideing doesn't seem super important to it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Second is, who infects/assimilates better. Can Thing cells totally assimilate a Flood infected host, or does the Flood infect the Thing? This is the most important question and should determine the winner then and there. Hey, we should really get a Chief vs Thing match going.

I believe the Thing assimalates faster, and considering they assimalate on the cellular level, the Flood wouldn't even be able to affect it in this case, as it would assimalte any cells that come over to it's end to infect it.

Personally I'd say the Flood would have a better chance if this was a 9-B flood with energy weapons, as otherwise the Thing just begins absorbing it when they meet at close range.

Well, whether it's a fungal, bacterial, or viral infection makes a big deal here.

If it's the former two, then the Thing would assimalate the cells that would infect the Thing.

If it's the latter, the Flood has a chance.

Actually, if it's fungal, then the Thing might not be able to assimilate it at all. It's already canon that the Thing can't assimilate plant cells. I see no reason why fungus cells would be different.

The Flood should spread and accumilate Biomass much faster. They can absorb the entire biomass of a planet in mere hours.

Also, what version of the Flood are we using? Because the Flood roflstomps if we're using their Floodcursur versions.

Oh I'm not doubting that. The 80's movie stated it would take about 27,000 hours to assimilate the whole world. I assume that's with the stealthy approach. Plus the thing might not be able to touch Flood infected.

Versus is correct, if the Thing can't assimalate the Flood cells (Which should be fungus unless there's a statement I'm missing), then the Flood would be able to infect it and overtake it. That put, the Thing should be able to assimalte the infected Dog, although that would just massively speed up the Flood infection in the Thing.

Flood takes this.

Flood - 3

Thing - 0

Honestly this is pretty conclusive for the Flood. The Thing can't assimilte the Flood and would need to isolate and destroy it, which is porbably not happening.

I love the not-yet-necro bumps. the best kind.

Halo fungus wins FRA.

I'll add the final nail in this coffin.

The Thing gets flooded FRA.
