Couldn't a deity just as well get rid of someone Type 8 as well?

But at the same time a deity can simply say "you're no longer tied to me" and get rid of the immortality reliant on them.

That's my point. With Type 8 your link to the object is permanent, with Type 4 you need the deity to always give it to you.

The Deity died. YH absorbed it, and he was sealed as the New Deity in the end, but they were still able to comeback to life by the old Deity gift.

Based off the novel Type 8 is pretty straight forward. Not type four though since the same novel makes it clear God did not give them protection. At best they stole it from him.
