Why he hypersonic reaction? We put hypersonic because he responded to M-60, dodging tank shells and could see the shock wave in slow motion. The shock wave is closer to the speed of sound, and he was not dodging tank shells, except that it didn't get the tanks and you believe that he evaded.

The shock wave had biomass in it that was accelerated at mercer enough force to fatally wound him at point blank range and hurt him alot at mid range.

The tanks in the game (M1 Abrams) has a muzzle velocity of Mach 4.89, both Heller and Mercer can casually dodge/block the shells at point-blank range (especially Heller being capable of doing this near the beginning of his powers, and the shells themselves are tracking), evolved are capable of this too and Heller has absorbed dozens, with Alex stating every living being you consume makes you stronger. Alex is also capable of blitzing Heller if he wanted to, see here , and the Mother shockwave thing
