So this character absorbs every photon of light turning the entire sky dark. This lasted ten minutes of him absorbing every bit of light that was coming to earth from the sky, including the energy the sun was giving off.

What Tier would this be?

I'm not sure, it just stated the sky went dark and that all of the energy the sun was giving off was being absorbed.

maybe tier 4 if the sun's energy is absorbed until there is no remaining (?) because if I'm not mistaken the sun is already a star.

What he means is that the character in question absorbed all the Solar energy the sun gives off in 10 minutes

Doing some quick but probably not so accurate math for the highball using the sun's energy per second and 10 minutes the sky went dark that would give Moon level-2.28e9 Joules
