What is the relationship between the Void and the Rift? (Final Fantasy)

Well, going by FFV the Rift was simply the space between Bartz's world and Galuf's world that was being used to seal the Void, which in turn was the primordial nothingness that predated existence from which existence itself came from (FFIII used a similar interpretation, even before Dissidia clarified the Void is the same across the franchise).

The Rift is essentially what connects the different worlds and allows to travel between them, from what I get. Going by Dissidia 012 as well, Gilgamesh is trapped there and is by travelling the Rift that he reaches different places and the reports mention that the Rift is what is used to reach "different realms". But sometimes I've seen that it's the Void what connects the worlds and is used interchangeably with the Rift, so I am actually confused if they became the same thing as games went on or I am just misunderstanding things.

The Void was sealed in the Rift. Some parts of the Rift have the Void in them. Because of this, travelling the Rift is like almost the same as travelling the Void sometimes, like in FFXIII-2

So essentially what connects the different worlds is not quite the Void, but the Rift who happens to be interwined with the Void to an extent due to having being used to seal it?
