What if a verse doesn't use joules?

Alright, so let's say in a verse's magic system, the laws of physics are a complete non-obstacle. So things like relativity, conservation of energy, etc don't apply...

But let's extend this further. What if the story goes out of its way and says joules or watts or anything like that don't apply to magic? Would this make the verse's destructive feats unquantifiable?

Seems like an oddly-specific thing to do in a verse rather than just ignore that they exist, but...

That still doesn't stop us from measuring their energy yields via other formulas like destruction values (Or using pressure values like newton or PSI which aren't energy-based), explosion radius size, basic KE calcs (Or once again, using newtons or PSI), earthquake moment magnitude calculations and so on and so forth.

aren't those all physics-based?

Oh wait, physics doesn’t apply at all? Then i suppose you just eyeball it to see what baseline tier they can get
