What does transcending/rejecting the laws of reality grant?

Title.

Basically, in the novel I'm reading, there are characters who were stated to transcend the laws, and some of them outright reject them. Said laws are also sometimes synonymous with concepts. There is duality in the verse, BTW, such as life and death, yin and yang, fire and water, etc...
 
Not exactly sure what that would grant, transduality or smth? Also, isn't that Nondualism stuff kind of high tier stuff?
