What counts as tanking?

Example Character A atacks B with 6-A punchs B tanks one punch and dies in the other that would count as tanking, top dura, downscaling or directly not scaling to that?
also if the second punch desintrigate B character still counts

If the first punch does massive damage, and the second punch literally overkills, character B would pretty much not scale. As numerous others said, character B needs to be able to regularly take hits while receiving moderate damage at worst. And the finishing blow shouldn't be an overkill.

Weird consediring that i read a thread in the old wiki saying that B character just downscaled

Downscaling is generally considered taboo around here; this isn't something exclusive so Shounen verses where characters hold back, or Marvel/DC Comics having a bunch of lazy writing, but a fodder human character getting ragdolled by a much larger top tier beast is a common trope in fiction in which we avoid upgrading fodder characters based on scenes like that. It would be like most humans are 9-B IRL because they survived 9-B falls albeit having broken legs in the process.

umm i what i am refering that A does 8-A feats and B is far weaker that B then he is 8-B there are several profiles that use downscale so it aint a taboo my boy

If that's the justification, then B should find a different feat to scale from; downscaling from an 8-A to get a roughly guess worked 8-B rating is a very iffy method. And lots of characters who used to be 8-B for said reasoning have been downgraded plenty of times.

yeah but
1. that is still a valid feat and most of 8-B characters got downgraded for other reasons
2. alot of profiles still use downscale most of them are not big enough to garantie a tier jump

a tier jump based in downscaling is only used in pretty heavy cases or if the character is baseline, close to baseline, or has some numbers like 1/10 the AP of a baseline 8-A

The problem is, "Character A effortlessly curb stomped character B, but character B survived albeit barely" is literally the epitome of what a loophole is. And for that reason that curbstomps are things the inferior character shouldn't be scaled from dominant character at all. And we need better examples of "A lot of profiles still used downscaling" because I'm willing to bet a lot of those profiles are actually being worked on and downgrades are in order.

Also, other verses actually have lore statements and or multiplier/divider statements that are either uncontradicted or are comparable to characters who already have their own 8-B feats and what not. If "Character B was effortlessly stomped by character A who is baseline 8-A" that's a pretty weak reason for an 8-B rating.

no is still a feat and why is a loophole is as simple as
B survives getting beated up by A then he is weaker by a uknown amount also examples

1.8-B nami is 8-B because she is 1/10 as strong as a 8-A
2. Tower of god 7-B+ are that because they are half stong as a 7-A feat
you know now that i think of TOG and shonen series are full of downscale

8-B actually comes from Buggy Bombs which have 8-B calculations. And she actually defeated an Not familiar with Tower of God, but if they have lore statements of being "Half as strong"; they're fine in that case. Shounen also tends to have giant ass powerscaling chains with plenty of where in betweens which is absent from a lot of other verses.

no it doesnt there is even a note that the 8-B scales from being 1/10 weaker than the 8-A

Look at the verse page and see list of calculations; there's also Buschi's High 8-C+ feat.

damn even in the note part of calculations put him as a example of what 8-B characters scales
