I had originally made a post about removing Transduality 4, but it never gained any traction. Instead of bumping something that's over a year old. I thought I'd just remake the post, but expand it a bit more.
I shall keep this short and sweet: The problem with Transduality is that it is not combat applicable and is essentially a novelty ability.
Transduality is more of a state of being than it is an ability. Now the wiki records states of beings such as Abstract Existence, Non-existence Physiology etc. However these state of beings have a big difference between themselves and Transduality. The biggest instance, is that Abstract Existence, Non-existence Physiology, and similar powers that are state of beings, share a common application among all verses. ex. Abstract Existences are all non-concrete and non-physical. For transduality, there is no similarity shared between verses. Each verse, describes the outcomes of transduality as different and very verse specific. There are other reasons:
For one, what is a binary system is different between verses. You cannot equate that across verses. One verse may have fire and ice be a dual system. Another may have water and ice. Does a character who "transcends" the dual system of fire and ice, be immune to all fire and ice manipulation, even if in those verses, those abilities don't exist in a dual system?
Second, how transduality manifests itself is different between verses. What is described as transduality can be explained or expressed by other abilities?
The third matter is, there are verses whom are getting the Transduality power despite the term, transduality ever being mentioned at all in the source material. Users are picking and choosing two things, (ex, life and death, existence and nonexistence, dark and light etc.) and then claiming a character is transdual because they "transcend" arbitrarily defined dual system.
The fourth matter is that Transduality type 4 is made up. Plurality is not "A state of being which is qualitatively beyond and superior to the nature of even the distinction between duality and transduality". Plurality is simply just classification under substance theory. It is in no way superior or inferior to duality. in fact, monoism, is neither inferior to duality.
If Transduality should stay it needs to be reworked. Here are some suggestions:
1. Verses should not get transduality unless it specifically stated they adhere to duality and the systems of duality is specifically defined as being a system of duality. No more, This character transcends life and death so they're transduality.
2. The effects or abilities granted by transduality in a verse should be written as such (xxx, yyyy, zzzz, via Transduality). If a verse doesn't specifically state what abilities or powers one gets from Transduality, then it should be non-combat applicable. (the equivalent of a gold star on the profile
)
3. Removing type 4. Again. It doesn't exist.
