This sounds like a stupid question but...

In general, embodiment means that it represents or incarnate something.

For general rule, fiction terms are the same to those irl.

Now, embodiments or incarnations may involve several things: creatures born from x can be considered embodiments of that same thing, it may means also that is literally x, or is x (or an aspect of it) made flesh. This are however literal interpretations, more metaphoric examples simply means its a good example of x.

Well with all respects but can you give me a much understandable explanation?

Can't say much beyond of what the dictionary says tho... character is a physical (or not physical) manifestation/personification of an quality, force, emotion or concept; what abilities and traits would a character have depends of the feats.

if someone is the embodiment of something it can mean several things, you are made of said thing, you are a thing given form(usually non-physical things such as speed or light) so you basically are that thing instead of being made of it

Embodiment of the universe can mean a lot, as a title it can just mean something like someone that acts like a wise apathic man, but if you get powers it can mean:

-you are as big as the universe due to being it.
-omnipresence there
-you'll live as long as the universe does.
-cosmic awareness
-maybe controlling the universe's contents.

Take this as an example: there's a character that for some reason doesn't want to fell rage anymore, and thus it decides to remove his rage; as a secondary effect the rage manifests in the world as an entity: that entity is the embodiment of that character rage. Other example is that there's a planet, and due rule of nature this planet needs to preserve itself and repels/eliminate any potential threat, and thus it manifest its will as some entity with certain powers: this entity its the embodiment of the planet will. Or perhaps, in a more complex sceneario, something really bad happened in the world, and made people suffer a lot, and all that emotional energy gave birth to an entity based in all the pain and agony that of all these people: that entity is the emdiment of suffering.
