The Revenant Marvel Comics Discussion Thread

I was just thinking: if both Thor and Hulk have many 1-A feats, could that maybe mean Hyperion's 1-A Incursion feat isn't an outlier and he could be counted among the "God Tiers" I mentioned earlier?

And I again wonder if scaling to a whole reality is inherently 1-A. Like we used to have Odin at High 1-B for scaling to the "inner contents" of a reality. Like these characters aren't "beyond dimensional" so is there a lower tier they should scale to instead?

Thor and Hulk 1-A can be argue as them being different or empowered by beings on that level.

Depends. it can be Low 2-C, 2-A like Eric Thor feat or Low 1-A.

Clea is the only one who fits here. People forgot that being Sorcerer Supreme isn't just a cool title that comes with a power boost, it's an actual job. Even the One World Under Doom tie-ins show that Doom is giga garbage at being the Sorcerer Supreme since he either makes other people do the things he's supposed to do like with Spider-Man or he just straight up doesn't do them like with the magical wards on the sun. Clea is the only one who has shown to have both the skill and is responsible enough to do the job. None of the other candidates match that criteria.

I like that. Although it is Stormbreaker, not Mjolnir. 🙏

According to the Marvel wiki, Stormbreaker also has a worthiness enchantment. At least as recently as 2019. So Ben would also be worthy to lift Mjolnir.

Okay. It makes sense if we ignore his old John Byrne (and possibly Stan Lee) characterisation of enthusiastically endorsing genocide against aliens. 🙏

Thankfully yes in this case, although John Byrne himself seems to have been extremely consistent in his views over the decades. 🙏

How powerful is he?
So far (I'm at issue #100), he is considered to be the strongest Avenger second to Thor. Whenever he fights other heavy-hitters on the team like Iron Man or Goliath, they can't really do anything at all to him. Whenever he loses, its usually because they have some direct counter to his abilities. Like he lost to a Kree Sentry, but that was because the Sentry developed a counter to his intangibility that made it hurt him when he tried to use it. Hank Pym mused to himself that if Vision ever went rogue, he wans't sure if the whole team would be able to stop him. He did functionally get one-shot by Enchantress (with Enchantress being weakened by her exile), but Enchantress is extremely strong so its not that bad of an anti-feat.

Since he still has unknown on his profile

It’s a greater difficulty, given the blatant interpretation of Hickman’s that the Beyonders were effecting that level of destruction by literally throwing two macrocosms at each other like billiard balls, while Hyperion was able to hold them apart for a bit (before they shattered on their own weight) by just standing straddled between the two colliding Earths and screaming really hard. It’s more of an anti-feat for 1-A than anything.

In issue #8, Doom even mentions that the superheroes' combined power used for a week compressed into a picosecond of time in terms of intensity wouldn't be sufficient to harm him, if I remember correctly. That is a very powerscaling way of looking at things. 🙏

Then again, I feel if anybody can get away with saying something like that, it's Doom.

I mean all the heroes are holding back on Earth anyways, and SS Doom at his peak was on par with a Dormammu outside of the Dark Dimension, so nothing too extreme power-scaling wise.

Yeah, I meant to say issue 8, not 6.

Anyway,:

The use of "Ice Manipulation" in regards to Iceman, Doom replicating M-Day through Scarlet Witch's chaos magic, Sue using her powers to channel all the heroes' energies, the combined hammer and the large shot of Castle Doom being destroyed, it all feels like either a videogame, a fanfiction or someone skimming through a Doctor Doom respect thread or smth to find ways to have him defeat all other heroes.

You wrote One World Under Doom?
I wish, I'd be on a rolling comic book career.

Should Doctor Strange have a High 1-A key. If yes, then will it be Lord of Shamballah

Would Doctor Strange scale to Sorcerer Supreme Doom?
No, because Doom became this strong because

He captured the whole (or a major portion I don't quite remember) population of Latveria and sealed then into power/psyche/energy/emotion/lifeforce/whatever absorbing spheres that constantly empower him, making him able to handle numerous different combinations of spells and magics simultaneously at a degree which surprised even Strange himself, who was the first to suspect something fishy was going on since the beginning. In shorts, Doom's Sorcerer Supreme key is heavily tied to Preparation

Yes, and Dormammu outside of the Dark Dimension was STILL too much for Doom to handle until the Scarlet Witch and the other superheroes helped out with distracting Dormammu. So Doom's higher than Doctor Strange performances weren't that weird with that in mind. 🙏
