Nightmares exist outside of logic, and there's little fun to be had in explanations; they're antithetical to the poetry of fear. | ||

"No...."
The child twisted and turned in his bed.
"NO...."
He kept on moving, rolling around.
"NO!"
He finally woke up, sweating and in fear. It was but another bad dream. He started to cry, but then heard something in the closet moving around. Grabbing the flashlight he saved for "monsters", he decided to investigate, as he wandered closer to the closet.
As he did, he saw claw marks around it. What was inside was NOT pleasant. It was some creature, with red eyes, a dark skin tone, a golden top hat and also a bow tie of the same color. It roared out and started to chase little James.
He then ran into the basement and shut the door, before then putting a crowbar on it and locking it shut. He then turned on his flashlight as he saw another beast soon after. He unlocked the door, but then, his head started to shudder.
As the door opened, James ran out past Nightmare, trying not to go insane as Nightmare looked at this other creature. This nameless monstrosity. He roared out, staring down at the eldritch beast as it gargled back, accepting the challenge.
