The "Lucy" Experiment

I was browsing Community Central when I came across this and from what I'm hearing, this "Lucy" Experiment will effectively remove Source editing.

To partially quote a user named MasterMystery

"To rephrase what ATSK said, "Lucy" is a new editor that FANDOM has been working on. "Lucy" is specifically designed to replace source mode/classic editor, though I'd like to argue that the reason why so many wikis are designed the way they are has much to do with source mode editing. If you head over to the Thirteen Reasons Why Wiki, go to a random page and click source mode, you'll see the editor and it's many flaws. It's because of this that the 13RY Wiki is basically deserted and why there's barely an amount of users editing (if any, I haven't checked in much)."

It seems Fandom is developing some kind of "replacement" for the editor. My question is, the source editor...is it really confusing? Similar to the Discussions module, this could, hypotehtically speaking, cause us some problems in the near future, should this be implemented any time soon.

This is what "Lucy" looks like (on mobile)

The general concern is forcibly replacing another editor, one that in a lot of our opinions isn't exactly "complicated".

Huh...when Black-kun told me about this he called it "FANDOM Creator". Maybe that's its official name.

Regardless...I do not think this should replace Source editing entirely. It gets the job done does it not? "Don't fix what isn't broken." y'know.

At least give wikis the decision to choose.

"Don't fix what isn't broken"

Hmm...the Source Editor indeed is not broken, but apparently is flawed.

Flawed or not, Source Editor works. "Lucy" just looks like one big template...

Then again, that is the mobile view...

Now I have no idea what mobile editing really looks like, but "Lucy" just looks plain awful.
I know right? Maybe it's still in the beta phase. It has been in development since April, or so I've heard.

If they are gonna put in this system, then it should be an option. As such we should be able to choose what we use.

No offense to them of course, but Fandom seems to have a habit of fixing things that aren't broken.

I've opened one of the pages on the Thirteen Reasons Why Wiki and I think the Lucy Editor just looks like a much improved Visual Editor. You know, with more than two buttons. Still probably makes the source code a nightmare.

Lucy Editor

It looks hideous, once again going for the "futuristic" simplicity and blocky 3 color scheme BS that grates on the eye.

Without Source Code, a major tool to use for our profiles when dealing with tabbers, quotes, video links, color coding, and more, it will just be more of a pain for us to make profiles and the formatting will probably have to be changed and will look cruder and less proffessional.

......Does not seem necessary at first glance, but i think it will improve the sloppy edits. That is only with precarious editing skills, although using source code definitly excels when working with the layout of most projects.
