The final borrowed power should be directly tied to karma meaning not only should Mori get resistance to cm1 but also Mujin should get the cm1 as well

Its better to collect evidences at first than to rush it.
Especially in CRT the staff just agreed to CM1 for Mori instead of also getting resistance, while Mujin probably got it too.

Just use the justification you had in mind and add that it's a karma-related ability, then add it to resistances without any additional explanation since the "karma allows you to resist its abilities" should be enough.
