Homelander still can be a good fighter and get wrecked by Butcher because Butcher is a whole beast.
He is a ex tier one Soldier, towers over John, takes punches from Hughie and no damage (that's borderline superhuman. Even Mike Tyson isn't no selling a haymaker from a 6"1 guy.)
Butcher is beating everyone in the show if it's a fight with no powers.
