The Boys discussion thread

Yeah and ? Even in universe Noir II is a horrible person who gets boners from killing people. And for the show it's far better for the Deep to kill him and become bolder. Deep has been around since season 1, he is fan favorite character because he is funny and Chase Crawford pulls it off perfectly.

Meanwhile Noir II is a rather boring character. His only dynamic is with the Deep, where if he had killed Deep, this character would be pretty pointless going forward. Meanwhile Deep has unresolved dynamic with Homelander, Sage and Ashley. He is far more entertaining to watch.

She thought the laptop she put would be enough to change SBs mind.
That's the weird part. Whether Soldier Boy hates Homelander or not, she could always use the laptop to anger Soldier Boy. Ashley didn't matter at all.

A diagram of a oil pipeline. It's nothing impressive or tier changing to punch through 300mm steel and 50 mm concrete.

Haven't seen hazbin hotel. So between the Boys and invincible, it's easily Invincible.

Sure the boys has it's dumb moments. Like how Noir could have saved himself by flying. Or Butcher's limited use of his powers.

But oh boy it's not even close to Invincible. Mark consistency loses fights he should have no problem winning, 1000 year old fighters throw the most telegraphed attacks even the most novice fighters would know is stupid and don't even started on tactics.

I could have won the Viltrumite war on both sides with minimum casuality with the tools available.

Episode was kinda 50/50 for me. For the first time Sage actually felt smart af given everything was going well for her but then they kinda ruined it with the ending that made her seem not that smart again. I mean cmon she says SB is a wild card in the same episode and we're meant to believe she expected him to act exactly as she planned? Kinda meh.

I also think Butcher and Kimiko are kinda disappointing. Kimiko was like super strong when introduced and it feels like she was turned into a punching bag with the sole purpose of showing us the enemy supe means business, similar to Sam in s2 of GenV. I don't remember her actually doing anything cool since the 3v1 against Stormfront.

Butcher tho? That guy lost most of his aura. His portrayal feels completely inconsistent with his S4 portrayal. S4 showed cancer Butcher as this completely dark god tier supe. Vicky was clearly a high level supe and he just no-diffed her + any time Kessler appeared he just offscreened whatever supe was nearby which made it seem like he might actually stand a chance against Homelander 1v1. But s5 seems like it heavily toned down the "darkness" and reduced him to just another "above Kimiko" level supe. Homelander cutting his tentacles SO easily was a letdown on its own but even Bombsight seemed relatively unbothered.
On the same note Gen V are still nowhere to be seen.

Overall decent episode anyway. I Soldier Boy, Kimiko, Goldie, and Hughie were all really nice. It's just they the "good guys" have been extremely disappointing so far. At the start it seemed like they might not even need the virus. Marie and Sam + cancer Butcher + A-train + an amped up Starlight seemed like a, brutal boost to their power and so far Butcher has been largely disappointing, Starlight did nothing as always, and gen V folks didn't even have screen time yet. Only person who succeeded expectations was A-Train and even that was gone post ep 1.

Wait why? Its the Top 1 attack of the verse basically
Stormfront, Vicky, and even both temp V and cancer butcher damn near no-sold the laser. Sure for Vicky you could say he was purposely not going at full power, but with both Stormfront and both Butcher versions it was pretty clearly a direct feat of durability. Homelanders laser was pretty clearly also equally to TempV Butchers and Homelander basically no sold those too.

I also think the balancing is kinda dumb. I'd much prefer Butchers body being vulnerable to the lasers but his tentacles tanking them than the opposite. That way Butcher would be at a constant threat from Homelander lasering him but still not completely outclassed if he manages to block the beams.

What??

Stormfront got one shot by Ryan’s lasers, which couldn’t pierce Homelander’s skin. Meanwhile his own beams could easily cut through it. He was holding back.

Vicky?? He was trying to show she is a Supe not murder her?? Obviously it didn’t kill her.

Butcher literally got his ass knocked out for like several minutes before he could even move, additionally Homelander thought this was human Butcher so its likely he didn’t go all out.

however intelligent sister sage is, her ego supersedes it; ashley straight up tells her about the situation with homelander and soldier boy, and she doesn't even take that into consideration in her plan. her showing soldier boy a video of homie and stormfront banging was the best she had to drive a further wedge between them? ight lol cant wait for her "this was apart of my plan" nonsense next week. all in all, better episode than last week, albeit still some dumb sh** throughout. annoying asf bombsight just loses his powers before we even see him do anything, but atleast they finally have a fight where a supe's speed is actually conveyed well. the fact that he just speedblitzed everyone made me smile. also 6-B homelander incoming (not cope)

He is talking about current Butcher. In s5 ep1 he takes a laser straight from Homelander and just walks it off.

I’d be fine if he’s squishy but has some busted regeneration

Huh? There's pretty clearly a difference between Ryan full body sized laser against Stormfront and a regular laser beam.

Also Ryan did burn Homelanders skin in s5 and that was clearly much less bloodlusted than against Stormfront too. It's basically the same damage as what TempV Butcher did to Homelander and he was straight up equal to Homelander in laser power.
Vicky?? He was trying to show she is a Supe not murder her?? Obviously it didn’t kill her.
The thing is it still did absolutely no damage. For that to happen and Homelanders lasers to still be oneshot above Vicky he'd have to be holding back by like 95%.

Cancer Butcher no-sold the laser when Homelander was fully aware of his supe status and sneaked away. Hell he did it after Homelander already cut through his tentacles.
TempV butcher no-sold them while Homelander didn't know he's a supe, sure, but there's no reason to hold back when he's clearly trying to kill Butcher. What's more is, again, their lasers are clearly equal and physically they were also about equal and Homelander nosold Butchers lasers too. So again by scaling to Homelander TempV butcher also scales to the lasers.

If Butcher can take the lasers there's no reason his tentacles shouldn't
