Buuhan won't be able to do any lasting damage on Thanos.... but Buuhan's regen won't allow Thanos from killing him, but unlike Thanos, Buu can just absorb him...

Thanos is like one of the most intelligent thing in marvel.. especially you need massive intelligent to control the infinity gauntlet which can give you all the information in the universe at once, and how absorbtion will work on him if he can just turm that part of buu that tyring to absorb him into butterfly?

This is all 4-B thanos can do in terms of powers and abilities, other then imortality and invulnerability him and Super buu are preatty close.(The ones i didn't mention is because I really don't know how he will use them in an actual fight like telepathy or matter manipulation)

Since Buu's absorbtion counter thanos's immortality(not sure which type it is)

Now we have invulnerability and thats the hard one which is why this is a bit of a toss up.

Well it should be Type 4 immortality and being a piece of candy or sleeping for god knows how long in buu's body should be considered incapacitated.

I never realesed how similar their powers are to one another

I still say inconclusive since there are way to many ways this can go.

thanos takes this hands down. Thanos is not only leagues smarter than buu or any of his forms but thanos hax are op he can erase buu and buu will not regenerate. Let's not forget his strength can over power a warrior madness Thor with a power gem. He's also got an insane durability taking on multiple screams from black bolt to the face and laughed at them.While i can say buu has the better fighting skills thanos is definitely no slouch and has hundreds even maybe thousands of years of experience. Thanos will figure out all of buus tricks and atomize him or BFR him to the negative zone, he's got tons of ways to finish him completely. Sorry thanos takes this.

Atoms don't change in tiers unless specifically stating they can either survive atomization or have something beyond normal atoms (i.e. Bastard) buu is still affected by attacks if they can go through congenital durability especially atomic disintegration

Thanos' intellect is literally thousands of times greater than Buu, Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Piccolo combined.

Also, with speed equalized Thanos takes this with ease.

He's around the same in AP + Dura, FFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR more intelligent, has telepathy to mindhax Buuhan, has matter manipulation which trumps Buuhan's absorption, and in reality he's the superior fighter as he has more experience against characters who are actually a threat. Buu has no real experience except against the Z Fighters and the Supreme Kai's, and these fights were few and far between. And while Buu is still faster, Thanos' feats would put his reactions at MFTL+, but that's not important.

Bruce summarized it pretty well. I'd say they both have equal matter manipulation skills, but Thanos is faaar smarter with far more experience, and if Buu attempts to absorb him, that'll just give Thanos an opportunity to transmute Buu.
